So will leafs tv still be doing games? Or did they pretty much get ousted by this deal? If they're still doing a few games I'd have to assume Bowen would be on their crew.

There will be a lot of change when TSN guys/panel start going over to Sportsnet. like Bob MacKenzie, he'll have nothing to do but twiddle his thumbs with all the content he'll be able to cover.

Sweet mother of god he is awful. He comes off like a 10 year old that just ate a plie of candy before each broadcast.

No reason for him to brought back whatsoever, yet was. Boy, the audience sure will benefit from him making dumb points each intermission.

Joe Bowen is the voice of the Leafs and he's not going to be on their Telecasts, this is a major faux pas by Rogers.

Personalities like Glenn Healy are there exactly because they say controversial (dumb) things that make people talk about him. Create attention. If everybody was like Elliott Friedman, for example, wouldn't it be really bland?

Not a huge Bowen fan, Randorf was pretty good on Habs TSN games Romanuik is ok. Having said that, with the legion of talent available to and signed by Sportsnet why oh why are we continually cursed with the awful, awful Greg Millen?

The thing is I don't want to be driven crazy by the personalities. I watch hockey because I enjoy it and am entertained by the sport. Healy just annoys me and makes my viewing experience worse. My preference is a guy like Ray Ferraro who knows his hockey and speaks his mind, but doesn't go out of his way to be shocking or edgy just to get a reaction. Healy is like the Steve Simmons of television. He only has a job because his shtick is to piss people off, likely because that's what his employers think the broadcast needs.

Glad they got rid of Joe Bowen, so we can hear Dave Randorf and Paul Romanuk

BRUTAL. Romanuk is OK, Randorf is terrible. Almost makes my ears bleed. Hopefully it's mostly Bowen.

As for Healy and Stock, all you need to do is call the Rogers' guys by their nicknames and you're a lifer.

it would be cool if they broadcast games on a second station and just used ice mics. so if TSN had the game on their main station, maybe TSN 4 could broadcast it without any commentary.

i would probably watch the game with the commentators more, but i think if i was having a bunch of people over, we don't really need the commentary (we provide our own). and i think it would be a lot better for bars too (since a lot of places don't even turn the sound up enough to hear the commentators anyways).

Very underwhelming group. Bob Cole is light years ahead of anyone in the play by play business despite the odd gaffe, which they all make. He leaves Jim Hughson in his distant shadows.

The move of Joe Bowen to radio is the most bone headed move off all. While Joe has a somewhat annoying laugh, he has a good play by play voice, arguably next to Cole. Romanuk and Randorp are a complete joke. Randorp in particular, last year I'd listen to the game in French before listening to him when doing Habs games.

Thank goodness TSN still has 26 Leafs games. In addition to these games I'm planning on cutting down on viewing games this year, it's just too watered down from a broadcast perspective. The games I do watch, I will have the inconvenience of muting the tv and putting on the radio broadcast to hear far superior play by play.

Hard to imagine a full season with no Bowen (on TV). Sucks. Really, really sucks.

Where is Kevin Weekes? I thought he was a great on HNIC along with his work at NHL Network.

Sportsnet have a commentator full of **********. Going to have to change the channel again during the intermission.

Do you know why they bring back Healey and Hrudy?

Because they are going to get reaction out of them and cause people to talk about the product. ALL good news for Rogers.

To be honest, I'm going to listen to their analysis and may pick up some things, but I'm watching the game because of the Maple Leafs and not some announcer. You can always mute the TV too.
It's because they take the league minimum

If you have surround sound, just unplug your centre speaker and bang, no commentary.

Not happy about no Joe Bowen on TV, however, we still have the steady Greg Millen for regional broadcasts. I hope they rethink the Bowen play by play decision after fans have had enough of the annoying Romanuk.

Thank god for away streams on Hockeystreams... wow that is terrible.
Exactly my thoughts. I would recommend it to anyone. Made games that would've been on CBC 100x more tolerable (I wasn't crazy about Bowen/Millen either). Plus it's just interesting to hear things from the other team's perspective.
