Tons of new screens at bowl entrances and a new restaurant between the dressing rooms for ballers. Next year they plan to replace all the upper and lower bowl seats.

The jumbotron is 1350sq/feet per side vs 350 for the old one.

Sounds pretty cool to me although I worry I'd end up watching the game on the screen instead of the ice.

Unless I missed it, I wonder what the price is to sit in that event level club seating for a game?

That sounds...so distracting. 1350sqft. That's the size of a $3M house. If i wanted to watch the game on TV i'd just stay home and watch the game on TV. But i guess they've gotta get in on the arms race.

Can’t do much to enlarge the concourse so have to make the in your seat experiences better.

Once the viaducts are removed, there will be a lot of room for expansion.

Yea that's what they're waiting for. My dad is a VP for a big construction company and he told me that the rough blueprints are already drawn up. As soon as those viaducts go down, Rogers Arena starts expanding. By the end of the renovations, it'll be almost double in size and we will barely recognize it. In a good way. It's going to be a gorgeous building. And seating in the upper deck will most likely be expanded so the total will be closer to 20,000, it's currently at 18,910.

LOL at the seat replacement being pushed back another year. It feels like this is something that was about to happen for about 6 or 7 years now.

Was a very busy year for concerts so they didn't have time between shows to complete the work. From what I've heard, next summers concerts are already being rerouted to the Pacific Coliseum.

Think the trend for indoor arenas is not to go higher on seating. Keep it in the 18K range. No need to get to 20K. More VIP seating vs. packing more people in.

Maybe they add some more seats, while renovating the area for VIPs to take away seating, thus nets out and remains close to the 19K that they are at now.

I am confused by the description of the events level club. Perhaps it's the concept art by marketing, which is generally of no predictive value.

But if it's to be taken literally, the idea is that home and away players will have to skirt along the edge of the events level club dining area on their way to/from dressing rooms? What could go wrong? And what could make an NHL player feel more like a zoo animal?

I didn’t see anything wrong with the current jumbotron or encircling light / graphic beam, but hey, it’s not my money.

Biggest thing to me is the seats. I would have put that at the top of the list, but at least it’s being done for next season.

I thought so too but then we have to remember that the previous scoreboard is over 16 years old! Most of us were still using tube TV's back then. There were many dead pixels, portions of the screens would randomly flicker on and off. My guess is parts and wiring for this thing would be hard to come by....Probably less energy efficient as well.

I think I started rockin the 50" plasma around that time. Not a lightweight TV like todays LED. I now sport a 55" OLED.

The bigger screen is probably helpful to people in the nosebleeds who often can't see a play or have their view of it blocked by the net or the boards. But yeah, these distractions are definitely not aimed at me. I find all the "game experience" add-ons cringy at best. I feel like whenever the play is dead my attention is forcefully drawn to one stupid, irrelevant thing after another until it starts again.

Why watch at home on your own tv when you can spend hundreds of $$s to watch it at Rogers!

The sound is so good, it’s almost like being at the game!

I remember a few years back there was a proposal to build a tower at the eastern corner of BC Place. When the viaducts are gone, maybe BC Place and Rogers Arena will meld into 1 complex. You could have a significantly large bridge section.

This looks like a parody... are rich diners going to be complimenting/insulting the sweaty players as they walk through the dining room?

And then they just watch the game on TV from a restaurant that happens to be in the same building where it's being played?

Picture these 2 scenarios:

1) Tensions run high as the 2nd period winds down. Pushing and shoving after the whistle leads to a fight and several hugging matches. Players eventually filter their way back to their dressing rooms and the teams lock stares across the Events Level Club Dining Room. Stares turn into taunts, egged on by fans in the dining room. Escalates into inter-team brawl in dining room WWE-style.

2) Idiot fan throws cell phone at player making their way back to the ice in the hopes that player will take selfie and boost said idiot fans' social media clout. This pisses off the player, escalates into brawl in dining room WWE-style
