I guess we can blame social media. Cell phones, etc. This is why I loved the bench fight between Wilson and Anderson just last week. True passion there. And when Wilson was asked about it last night after the Caps eliminated the Habs he spoke well of Anderson basically saying in a nutshell "that's hockey". But on the ice they got mad at each other, and I miss that. Especially in the playoffs. But Roy's quote is classic on Roenick. Even JR has said he liked that quote. I mean, how do you come back from that one?

Caps vs Habs had a nice heathy level of passion going on, nothing to turn modern audience head away, nothing feeling people just lost quality of life for a long time (or ever) with big hit on the head. But enough to make it fun and would they reface each other soon enough could build a mini rivalry.

Relatively clean but intense hockey. Same for the 4-nation tourney, Canada-Usa 2025 was not that far from 1996.
