If he doesn't play in the playoffs, or is a shell of himself in the playoffs, the managers responsible for the trade should go.

I have no problem trading for a questionably available player, but at a steep discount or with conditions attached. Paying for retention with no conditions for a guy with a high ankle sprain (an injury my grandmother knows is uncertain and problematic) only for him to not play is fireable. Even if the cost wasn't major.

Shows incredible incompetence.
We'll see how the playoffs go but every move this management team has made has been a mistake. Getting terrible value for the Arvidsson, Skinner, 3rd line from last year signings, lost a ton of value with Broberg and Holloway, all the guys that left are having career best seasons, the Emberson trade is looking like a flop and they used that freed up money from that trade to sign Klingberg and Kapanen who have largely been flops.
The Podkolzin trade was ok, Perry signing was nice, Walman trade tbd but he's had plenty of struggles, Frederic trade looks like it could be a complete whiff. It's been a trainwreck to be quite frank but can all be redeemed with a Stanley Cup win and they better win now because the window closes fast if not already.

It seems like fans here relish and love being able to rip the team apart and just be negative all the time. A player is out a game due to injury and now its the end of the f***ing world. Knoblauch literally said Frederic would be ready for the playoffs in his interview. Did any of you bother watching it?

Most peopel are calling out the fact that we paid a 2nd for him, plus more for retention when we shouldn't have had to based on him not playing until playoffs. That's totally fair. It's incompetence that we threw away additional assets for NOTHING, because he should've just been on LTIR. Giving up a 2nd AND Wanner was completely unacceptable.

Our front office got completely f***ing hosed on this deal.

lol if the oilers management is the most incompetent in the league, then what do you say about Philly, Buff, Calgary, Seattle, NYI, etc. etc. etc. you people are too dramatic, take a break from HF, its time.
None of those franchises got handed two generational talents (and yes, I'm putting Drai in that category) and have one playoff run with a win beyond the 2nd round to show for it. Hell, Seattle almost went that far in their 2nd year of existence. This group has done it only one time in the McDecade. Calgary drafts and develops far better than the Oilers do, they also got dealt a shit hand when their two American stars decided to split for the States. The Oilers got handed a gold plate and turned the gold into shit.

I hate to be one of the complainers but this Frederic trade, unless we see returns in the playoffs, is the icing on a shit cake of a season.

And now we're forced to play shorthanded because this team cannot figure out the salary cap almost 2 decades into its era. This runs the risk of further injuries.

Yeah we can say that BUT you also have to consider the players value at the deadline. Barclay friggin Goodrow once got traded for a 1st round pick. If we had done something like that, you'd be asking for Bowman's head.

Only reason so many of you guys are pissed off is because Frederic is injured and now is out again because he reaggravated it. He's going to be back by playoffs at latest. Just take a breath for goodness sakes

I think it is because Bowman is terrible; with the Frederic trade reaffirming that.

Did Olivier just say his girlfriend and his fiance are gonna be there? LOL

I almost f***ing forget about Klingberg. Thanks for making it worse. lol, no I didn't forget.

This org just throwing spaghetti at walls=Oilers management.

This being an org that pulls Drai out of injured status to forcefeed him in the chipper for a few games because the club suddenly desperately needs some wins and then is happy that the "new injury" is not the old injury and so this is somehow better...

Think as well, which I did at the time, that one of the games injured Drai was playing was against the dirty Calgary Flames. Yeah we needed him, but look at the risk of putting out an injured player and letting him play. Used to be that this kind of thing was considered the easiest way to cause further injury....AI must be spitting out different prognosis.....jk

Which was foreseeable for anyone with a brain.

High ankle sprains aren't snap your fingers and you're back injuries. Just being "back" for the playoffs coming off a high ankle sprain means he's playing hurt and diminished.

McDavid and Draisatl are the only, and I do mean only things keeping this franchise relevant right now. We got a nice look at a team without them last game and it was pretty ugly.

GMing isn't easy but it really shouldn't be hard to surround two franchise players with at least a semi-competent supporting cast.

Actually it was a pretty evenly played contest against a fully healthy team that everyone here is ready to send to the next round with a free pass waiver.

I don't know what you were expecting exactly, but that was not an effort or a game to be upset at.

A high ankle sprain can take months to heal. I don't think there is any guarantee he is back for playoffs and if he is how effective he will be.

Remember, this is the Oilers we are talking about here. Day to day, means week to week, week to week means month to month, month to month means clinically dead, and clinically dead means body has been at the morgue rotting for several years now.

none of those teams were gifted with the most skilled player to ever play the game and another franchise top-3 player in the game.

We did, and since day 1 have screwed their careers and our chances at winning a cup over and over again.
Us not getting Connor and Leon a cup while they're on our roster would be like if the 90s Chicago Bulls failed to get Michael and Scottie a single championship. It would be a historical failure that would never be forgotten.

Very hard to argue with any of it, actually couldn't agree more. We don't manage our assets very well, never ever do we trade when a player has high value, ie Nuge or Bouchard now. The we handled this off season was dreadful.

But this Frederic deal is brutal, I originally liked it, but they were saying a couple of weeks and he would be good to go. Do they not have physicals that they have to pass? It was good to see him throwing his body around as Perry is the only player that does that but he isn't a regular player any longer.

Hi, we lost in game 7 of the SCF last year.

Lot of doom and gloom here, again. We've had like 6-7 (including 2 of the top 3-4 on the planet) players who will be on our playoff roster out. Everyone relax. The real hockey almost 2 weeks away, just drink lots of water and get ready for another deep run.

What a TDL. lol. We get Max Jones an AHL player, we get Frederic who can't play, and we got Walman. Essentially we got Walman and thats all, and we gave up assets.

This management could fire itself into the sun.

7mins of Frederic. lmao. Assets spent, the price you have to pay...
Same level of 2 2nds for AA
