lol if the oilers management is the most incompetent in the league, then what do you say about Philly, Buff, Calgary, Seattle, NYI, etc. etc. etc. you people are too dramatic, take a break from HF, its time.
how many of those teams have McDavid and Draisaitl on their roster?

keep comparing yourself to shit and you will become shit

so the Oilers spent 1.7 mil on an awful d-man who could never stay healthy in Klingberg
then spent a 2nd and 4th on a guy with a known injury with no clear timeline on when he's expected back

I'm starting to think these buffoons are actively trying to make the team worse with every move

I almost f***ing forget about Klingberg. Thanks for making it worse. lol, no I didn't forget.

This org just throwing spaghetti at walls=Oilers management.

This being an org that pulls Drai out of injured status to forcefeed him in the chipper for a few games because the club suddenly desperately needs some wins and then is happy that the "new injury" is not the old injury and so this is somehow better...

Think as well, which I did at the time, that one of the games injured Drai was playing was against the dirty Calgary Flames. Yeah we needed him, but look at the risk of putting out an injured player and letting him play. Used to be that this kind of thing was considered the easiest way to cause further injury....AI must be spitting out different prognosis.....jk

You remember the Decade of Darkness? They since morphed into the Decade of Incompetence.

Three successive GMs over a decade have utterly failed with the best 2 players on the planet and we still have the exact same issues we started with.

Buffalo is the only team run worse than us at this stage.

im starting to think the oilers are playing the long game for playoffs, like kevin nash rollin up ringside in a wheel chair and cast only to jump up and start kicking everyones ass.

or they are stupid, its one or the other

none of those teams were gifted with the most skilled player to ever play the game and another franchise top-3 player in the game.

We did, and since day 1 have screwed their careers and our chances at winning a cup over and over again.

what's up with the smoke around DR not reporting to bako? Seems weird and this stuff wouldn't be coming out if his re-assignment was just a paper transaction and the team wanted him to stay up with the big boys. Another masterclass by this group, eh.

What a TDL. lol. We get Max Jones an AHL player, we get Frederic who can't play, and we got Walman. Essentially we got Walman and thats all, and we gave up assets.

This management could fire itself into the sun.

7mins of Frederic. lmao. Assets spent, the price you have to pay...
I don't know what we were expecting. It's like Chiarelli never left.

Someone has to lose their job if this team doesn't go on a deep run, and it really should be a lot of someones.

This f***ing stupid organization.

The guy is not ready to play, but the medical staff clears him. Fire them all.

Reading between the lines of what I heard on GYB the medical staff didn't want him back and were fighting with coaching/management over it.

Alluded to a comment from Knoblauch about how "TD is the most thankful one he's back" because he had been getting hounded by everyone to clear him (coaches, management, player).

McDavid and Draisatl are the only, and I do mean only things keeping this franchise relevant right now. We got a nice look at a team without them last game and it was pretty ugly.

GMing isn't easy but it really shouldn't be hard to surround two franchise players with at least a semi-competent supporting cast.

Yup, exactly. Ten years of incompetence and holes that still need to be filled.

We only got so far last year because McDrai went supernova, and then they ran out of fumes in the finals.

well, let's see...they decided to not re-sign Broberg and Holloway in order to bring in Podz, Emberson, Klinberg, Kapanen and an already injured Frederic
I think we all know the answer

I think the Oilers have a semi-competent supporting cast.

In the past losing McDavid alone would have meant virtually zero chance of winning. Currently we don't have our two best players, best defensemen, a single goalie playing at an average or above average NHL level, and a swath of other key players that are underperforming expectations. Still winning games and being competitive in games against good teams despite this reality. If the Oilers score first on Saturday I am pretty sure they come away with at least a point. The Kings didn't out play the Oilers despite the lineup dichotomy.

This isn't 2017-2022 anymore. McDavid + Leon + Nurse/Klefbom (?) being out in those years combined with bad goaltending and we don't win a game.

And then we offloaded three young players who all played roles in helping us get to the Finals for a second, third, and a prospect that might not make the big club. Galaxy brain stuff. I think you have to try to be this bad at your job.

I've said it for a while, we don't need Lightning or Avalanche level of competence up top, just passable would be enough and we can't even manage that. They really should be ashamed of themselves, but you know they're proud that they got a "Guy with pedigree" in Bowman even though he more or less singlehandedly dismantled that Blackhawks team.

Obviously losing players hurts but injuries happen to most teams. The Oilers have relied too long on two players and now that they're not playing the rest of the cast needs to step up.

They have stepped up. This is about as good as anyone could reasonably expect from any team without their three best players (including top 2 scorers) that doesn't have goaltending.

The expectations you have aren't reasonable.

Foegele, Ryan, Holloway, Broberg.

That's four. And three of those guys are our top dman's BFFs.
