Rumor: Rocky Thompson hired as Asst. Coach (Born 8+ Months After The Film Rocky Was Released In 1977)

And pretty silly too, something that sounds vaguely true as long as you don't put much thought into it (which I don't think St Louis really did) because once you start to think about it it breaks down in a hurry and gets pretty grey. Don't really feel like getting into a long winded debate about it though. I do feel like saying, and this isn't specifically related to what St Louis said, that a father-figure type is better for a sports team than a buddy, and a teacher the students hold a bit of fear for and will raise his voice at in front of the class if they're playing around on their phone will get better results

95% likely have no idea who this guy is or how he is as a coach. Myself included. Yet he stinks, terrible, and everything else. Makes for good reading with my breakfast.
 
I posted 3 informative articles about Rocky Thompson just on the last page of this thread. Each paint him in a very good light.

But, haters gonna hate.

And the vaccine excuse is the worst of all. He had a medical exemption and the NHL still rejected it. The NHL looks bad on that, not Thompson.

Because it's a bullshit exemption.


The last time you hyped up a coach was AV. That went badly. Before that, the "very bright" Gordon who was destined for more NHL jobs...still waiting on that. Before that, Hakstol.

At this point your support for a coach is proof they're bad. Know what I care about more than fluff pieces? Results. His results in SJ were trash.

If it wasn't the league would have accepted it.

And back to his theories on offense: that's nice. We haven't seen him effectively implement them, though.

Hakstol has interesting theories about defensive involvement that ought to be highly effective, but his attempt to implement those theories was completely terrible.

It's okay to dislike Rocky Thompson's personality.
It's okay to worry about his anti-COVID vaccination antics.
But based on all I've read he appears to be a modern forward thinking Coach.

He was a very highly regarding upcoming young coach.

Read the 3 articles I posted.

Most of them are from before he tanked the Sharks PP.

Unsure why you're deadset against actual results.

And if some want to hate him because he missed last season because he had a vaccine medical exemption & it was turned down (so he’s not vaccinated).

I don’t discriminate because someone defended their bodily autonomy & refused to let the state inject them with an experiment they didn’t feel comfortable with.
