For the ones who watch the games…how are Mailloux and Engstrom doing?

There’s something to be said about the club being 1st with such young D. The mood is almost we’ve given up on Mailloux as an NHL option, but they must be doing something good defensively…

Envision a young, raw Gustav Forsling when thinking of Adam Engstrom. Engstrom is one of the best skaters in the AHL and can skate with just about every NHLer. Engstrom needs to get stronger. He is a terrific prospect.

Mailloux- great season last year with 47 points as a rookie Dman. A dip in production this year but i believe he has focused more on learning to play defense.
I am not as high on Mailloux for a couple of reasons, it appears to me (a totally unqualified scout) that his skating isn't good enough and I also question his hockey IQ.
One thing to note though is that he didn't look out of place for the most part when he played a few games in Montreal.

I wouldn't give up on either prospect but Mailloux will probably be traded at some point.

I love Engstrom and always have. I thought he was better defensively than he's been but the talent is there to become a Forsling for sure.

perhaps but with Hughes injuring his knee last game, I didn't think there was any way they would risk it when they have Fowler headed (he only joined them 2 days ago) so I figured it was a lock. I know I saw it somewhere on twitter saying he will get the start on Saturday but maybe it said they expect him to start the game.
