Rochester Americans and Jacksonville Icemen 2024 Season Thread.

Utica back on the PK. Misyul blocked a Kisakov shot with his side and was wincing coming off the ice. Nemec took the third Utica penalty of the period - called him for interference, could've probably been just holding.

I remain a non-fan of Kale Clague at this tier.

Novikov goes shortside after dancing the line and digging into the LW corner and putting it through Poulter who didn't seal the post.

With the Amerks being short-handed so much in the first and on the powerplay so much in the second, Joshua has not seen the ice much. He needs himself a 5-on-5 point to keep the team tradition going (25 skaters have dressed for the Amerks including the since traded Poolman and all have at least 1 5-on-5 point).

Komarov and Rosen work a 2-on-1 at the blueline, Komarov walks in and puts the puck right on Murray's blade and he deflects it around Poulter... and off the post. Komarov looking a lot more mobile tonight - more that he's being instinctive than reactive than actual quickness. The boots are still heavy there.

Joshua almost scores on a nice play from Warren.

And then he coughs it up leaving Levi to stop a 2-on-1. Jagger seems to either have heavy feet or his wind isn't to team standards. He was gassed chasing and it wasn't that deep into his shift.

Warren gets a partial break against Nemec who hauls him down, crashing into the post and Poulter. There was a fly-by earlier where Levi got hit, wondering if this is tit-for-tat. A spicier end to the game that the Comets started well but then fell apart as it went on.

Amerks win 5-1.

Elsewhere, a non-Chris Grando goal and the Icemen win their game against Atlanta 4-1, momentarily putting them back in 2nd in their division.

Devon Levi's AHL stats are pretty incredible. 41 GP 28W 8L 5T 0.924 SV%

What also makes it incredible is Houser and Sandstrom aren't even close(Not that they are expected to be)Showing Levi is a step above and its not just a system.

Also 11-2-1 this year.
To put this into perspective: if you took Levi's career record in the AHL and projected it over an 82 game NHL season you would end up with 122 points. That would be 8 points clear of last season's Presidents Trophy winning Rangers and 12 clear of eventual cup winners Florida.

The team is 12-2-1 with Levi starting and 10-7-2 without him.

If that can translate to the NHL like you posted he will be a franchise goalie.

I am not sure he reaches that level especially with the way this team plays defense but its awesome to see.

He has had troubles at the NHL level but the team playing in front of him is not very defensively sound. UPL doesn't even have a .900 save percentage but I would but a lot of the blame on the defense. Its just awful at times.
