to be honest they havent done anything great except Blake. But! they did let only 20 shots on Brodeur vs 49 shots on Gerber..... I'd start ragging on the forwards before the defence.

But what about Regehr? He hasn't been as bad as McCabe, but he's been very invisible out there. Colour me unimpressed.
He should be invisible. If he's invisible, he's doing his job.

If he's being noticed (ie. now) then he's not playing well.

Personally, I don't think Regehr's been very good this game. For whatever reason, has made some pretty bad passes and poor decisions. Maybe the bigger ice is throwing him off, since he's primarly a positional defenseman and relies on that to push the play to the perimeter and down low, where he's strongest along the boards.

RR hasnt been very good at all i havent thought, not as bad as mccabe (but thats next to impossible)..... i havent been impressed with any of our D yet really, blake and pronger have been OK, but thats about it

I haven't been very impressed with Pronger either. I expected him to be the top defenseman for Canada, possibly the tournament, but he's taken tons of bad penelties.

Pronger has been playing poorly since he got his cracked foot. Hopefully he can pick up his game some when the games get more important. It was ugly to watch Gaborik dance around him the last time the Oilers played the Wild.

On the one hand I'd prefer him to rest and recover so he'll be better for the Oilers, but then Team Canada would be left with McCabe and probably Boyle playing more minutes. Pronger playing like crap is still better then that pair.

Regher is a number 6-7 defenceman, he shouldnt really stand out in a tourney like this. Let Blake, Pronger and Redden take the defense on their backs, these are the guys who your going to rely on in the clutch.

That being said, Danny Boyle would have been a better choice in my opinion, than Regher, whos game isnt at all suited to this big ice surface and European Reffing. We certainly didnt need Foote AND Regher, I dont think.

Regehr is a player is made to look good within a system.

outside of that system he is being exposed for the player that he is: a good 2nd pairing defenseman on most good teams

Regehr is a good defenseman and a #1 on a lot of NHL teams. I think he's probably just better-suited to the NHL game than the international one. Similar to Chris Chelios who I don't think has ever really looked good on the international ice surface.

I love Regehr as much as the next Flames fan, but he's not good on the big ice. Phaneuf or Boyle would be better... then again, you could say that about most of our defensemen this Olympics.

I think its safe to say all the defense looks bad. Starting at the top, 5'10, 175 lbs Saku Koivu beats 6'5, 230 lbs Chris Pronger cleanly to get the goal. Blake and Redden haven't done anything, a "smooth skater" Bouwmeester gets turned inside out, and is caught flat on his *** watching (Jokinenen?) get a partial break, McCabe is terrible and yeah, Regehr looks behind the play.

I can't help but laugh at watching guys like Lydman, Numinen ect skate circles over a flat-footed Canadian defense.

this D hurts without Jovo and Niedermayer

Canucks fans are gonna laugh at this one. As bad as they are, they'd be worse with Jovo in there.

Frankly 3/4 of the team has been useless! They all suck!
Only 3/4?

Only Rick Nash has played well. The rest of the team has been completely embarassing.

I'd say 21/22 of this team has been embarassing. I'd cheer for Finland, but I think Jarrko Ruutu is a disgrace, so maybe I'll chear for Switzerland.

Maybe Jovo would be playing a lot better on larger ice or something? Bertuzzi is sure playing better than he was with the Canucks.

right. he can't possibly be as worst as bouwmeester. i know you're blind hatred for the canucks is something you'd like to be public with but why dont' you step back and start thinking about the things you say rather than blindly do it based on emotion? unless you are incapable of logical thought then that's ok.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, I would rather have Jovo in there right now than Bouwmeester, McCabe and Regehr

You frequent the Canucks board. What have they been saying about Jovanovski all season?

Yes Jovo is really worse than Regher. He cant skate, cant pass, cant do anytghing offensive. That's Jovo alright.
