Well this is the worst outcome for the fans, Dubas, and Robertson himself. The org. can't use him and they cannot trade him either. The org. can't even determine if he's a keeper in the NHL.

I can't help but compare him to Carlo Colaiacovo.

This is pretty tragic news...

These injuries piling up year after year are killing prime developmental years. Such a shame really.
Coco springs to mind, as does Luca Cereda to a different degree (heart issue not really a hockey related problem)

Leafs prospect system is good. Don't believe the media. Unless you mean NHL ready players than sure at least up front

Another tough one for Robertson. Feel for the kid. Not that this affects it but still another forward is needed

I do. And not only is that the true measure of a development system, it's what we could use most at this point in the contention cycle. Instead we have a yearly churn of 1 year FAs and replacement type guys as the next wave beyond the core guys. Would sure be nice to plug in a couple of real quality young NHL forwards at entry salaries, but our system can't seem to produce a single one. Unless of course we're spending a top 5 or 10 pick, naturally. But that should go without saying.

He's a reclamation project at this point. His value is gone.

With him and Amirov both basically worth nothing now our prospect pipeline is very thin.

Grapes always said that serious shoulder separations should have surgery. He commented many times on players who just healed and soon they had more trouble.
So accept what the Grapevine says and Robertson will come back next year to play on second line either Knies.

Fair enough. There are some good prospects but aside from Knies and Holmberg, none are NHL ready

I've always had my doubts that Nick can become an NHL regular. Sucks for him, and hopefully he can bounce back.

He'll have to change something though. Unfortunately he's becoming a young Joffrey Lupul

This seems like a weird stance that his injuries occur because of his size.

Matthews has had all kinds of injuries and he is by no means small.

Mitch is smaller than Robertson but he manages not to get injured( granted he plays a different style)

For whatever reason, some players in sports are just prone to injury. Some have different pain tolerances ao we don't know when they are injured.

Going thru the injuries in the league and those who have had multiple stints on the IR, there is zero evidence that size is a factor when it involves risk of injury.

People are probably saying that based on how he got this shoulder injury.

And Marner is not smaller than Robertson.

Mitch is not smaller than Robertson but I see your point, style of play plays a big factor. Caulfield is smaller than both and he's an elite scorer cause he plays smart.

I should have said slighter.

Robertson at 183 being a few inches shorter is a stocky guy.

Mitch is taller but a little more slender.

Good call on Caufield.

Caufield rarely gets hit, frustratingly so. He knows how to avoid unnecessary contact and that’s allowed him to thrive and grow.

Robertson either hasn’t learned how to avoid unnecessary contact or his body is just more injury prone.

Was really hoping he came back, I liked him on the JT line. As an aside, Dubas needs to address that spot, Jarnkrok is passable but not desirable there for a realistic playoff run.

Unfortunate but he's still young
It has happened to Antropov while he was with the leafs. Part of the game

Robbi Fabri is another guy. Can't seems to catch a break

I hope he can shake it off and come back stronger next year
