This is likely to get the team down to max roster size and Barch may take Crabb's spot, not sure. I guess this means Gilroy is taking #6 spot? Didn't hear good things but also, there's a LOT of guys on waivers today so who knows what happens.

Per GR's twitter:

#FlaPanthers put Joey Crabb and Colby Robak on waivers...roster needs to be set Monday

Ahh that's right, Barch does make sense. Was Shore sent down? I can't remember.

Though Robak apparently was rough in pre-season, there is no way Gilroy was better than him, right? I hope that there is something else in the works for that last spot.

I don't believe Shore was sent down. He has proven he can play on this team. I believe Winchester makes the team, he was supposedly quite good but he also plays any forward position so that helps him.

As for the D, like I said there's a LOT of guys on waivers. Hell, 3 former Panther D are on waivers: Sulzer, Brennan, and Strachan all are. So who knows what we do. It makes you wonder why we bothered to sign Gilroy and Mottau at all, aside from our wonderful history of injuring everyone.

Relax guys, we need 7 D and Jovo isn't close to playing. We only have 6 healthy D currently. So we will acquire another defenseman. Gilroy will be the 7th defenseman.

I'd take Sulzer or Brennan back in a second. Preferably Sulzer.

If you're curious:

Sunday's waiver list is as follows:

Calgary: Blair Jones, Derek Smith, Ben Street.

Edmonton: Philip Larsen, Ryan Hamilton.

Toronto: Korbinian Holzer, T.J. Brennan John-Michael Liles, Trevor Smith, Troy Bodie, Drew McIntyre.

Winnipeg: Patrice Cormier, Adam Pardy.

The Oilers also claimed Luke Gadzic from the Dallas Stars.

Other waiver placements on Sunday include:

Anaheim: Nolan Yonkman, Boston: Nick Johnson, Buffalo: Alexander Sulzer, Carolina: Chris Terry, Chicago: Ryan Stanton, Colorado: Guillaume Desbiens, Detroit: Cory Emmerton, Florida: Joey Crabb, Colby Robak, Los Angeles: Jeff Schultz, New Jersey: Cam Janssen, NY Islanders: Joe Finley, NY Rangers: Stu Bickel, Brandon Mashinter, Darroll Powe, Pittsburgh: Andrew Ebbett, Chris Conner, San Jose: Bracken Kearns, John McCarthy, Matt Pelech, Tampa Bay: Dana Tyrell, Mike Angelidis, Matt Taormina, Washington: Joel Rechlicz

Holzer and Smith were once highly thought of prospects for Toronto and Calgary, not sure how they've played recently, but Smith is definitely better than Robak.

Still don't undestand why Crabb deserved a one-way contract, not to mention for two years?

I think they'll both pass, borderline players with multiple years left rarely get picked up.

Came here to post this. I don't understand why DT would offer Crabb a one way contract for 2 years and then not keep him up, especially when Crabb likely would have been delighted to sign a 2 way deal.

Smith was never a prospect for Calgary. He was almost 27 when he joined the Flames, he's going to be 29 in 2 weeks. He was brought in on a cheap two-way contract and on some nights outplaying some expensive overpaid defenseman like Sarich and Babchuk which warmed him up to fans. But realistically he was at best a bottom pairing defenseman on a team with little depth. He was in just the right situation to get a one-way contract from the Flames, but now has had injury issues and any team with him as even a 7th defenseman will not be the envy of the league, that's for sure.

I doubt he gets claimed, and I would be hesitant in calling him better than Robak, but if that's how you feel about Robak, I guess he's likely not getting claimed either, eh?

another high second round pick that turned into nothing. Had high hopes for Robak, hopefully Petrovic can substitute since he also is a high 2nd round pick.

THIS! THIS! and THIS!

For real, I say we fire and flush the whole ****ing management if Matt Gilroy breaks our NHL starting lineup what so****ingever.

yeah another dman who isn't responsible in the defensive zone. Great eye you got!
