Kings Vision: Rob Blake Interview on Being Named Assistant GM

His number retirement ceremony is going to sound a lot like Robitaille's did, except the fans won't be saying "Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc". It'll be another word that sounds like Luc.

At best the fans will be polite.

Good luck on your new job with the Kings Rob. As for those who continue to live in the past......try to change it if you can. In otherwords, move on forward, as there's no way in hell you can go back and change things. Kings Org. is moving on and time for fans to do the same.
Bobby Orr had to give on his past, over knees everyone should get a look at. He moved on, Phil and Tony Espo moved on; everyone has to, whether they like it or not people.
Just a little P.S.
One of the greatest song writers in the world said these words "Unless you've made no mistakes in your life, be careful of stones that you throw"
Wise Indians (oops scuze me, gotta be politically correct here" Native Americans said "Don't judge others until you've walked in their moccasins."
Pretty smart words, I think.

I loved Blake in his first go around...not so much the second (even if the Kings were aweful)...maybe I can start to forgive and forget.

If he is lucky, I won't be in my seat

Blake is an intelligent guy, he better bust his ass in this job!

Just out of curiosity, would you give this advice to people if, say, Avery was assistant GM?

What if Sam McMaster was brought back?

In the off chance OJ Simpson was asked to work in the front office, what would your response be?

This isn't comparing Blake to them, but just be sure you're equally ready to abide by these values you preach before suggesting others to do so. If you would have no emotional response to anyone who has made a different degree of mistakes in their lives, then good on you for being a better human being. But I have a hard time believing you stop and think of everybody's circumstances behind what they do.

Just goes to show fans take things far more personally than players or management usually do. It's just business. Blake had a value/money issue with the Kings in 00-01, eventually comes back. Sure, it was for a lot of money, but still. Then the whole thing with him and Lombardi at the deadline and in the summer of 2008, now it's 2013, and Blake is back again, this time working under Lombardi.

His job should be cleaning toilets at Staples. I don't give a **** abot the "it's in the past" theory. He disrespected his team and his fans, now do we have to respect this *******? He can go to hell.

As a matter of fact, I did think Avery was a great player and did a fine job of getting under others skins, which was he set out to do. I just don't set myself up to judge others as some do. McMaster? come on, you're kinda looking pretty hard there in order to by fans for years and their favorite topic has been to get on a chat board and join in with others by running him down. It seems to be a trend that's necessary to be liked.
Another one has been Marty McSorley when most don't even know the actual facts of what happned the nite that he was called for that illegal stick.
I just love sheep following their leader.

Oh and p.s.
I hope many go over to Rosen's Kings Insider site and read all of Blakes accomplishments in his career. Not many from this team can or will ever be able to live up to a career like that.

The point is that unless you can apply the value universally, it's hypocritical to expect others to do so.

If you're criticizing people for being sheep, then fire away. I have my reasons for disliking Blake, but will just have to get over it and hope for the best, since it's not worth it to me to let the ill feelings fester.

Many do act like sheep, so go ahead and knock people who can't think for themselves. But please don't associate everyone with hating Blake "because it's popular."

You clearly don't know a lot about Avery's time with the Kings

Avery was probably the most divisive player in Kings history. Everyone knows about when Hardy kicked him off the team

The major reason Lappy left was because of Avery (the mayor reported this)

now read this

But there was more to it: Laperriere and Avery, teammates at Los Angeles for one full season and part of a second, despise each other, and not only because of Avery's disparaging remarks about French-Canadian players.
Early last season, after Laperriere had moved on to Colorado, Avery took note of a hit by Phoenix's Denis Gauthier on the Kings' Jeremy Roenick and said: "I think it was typical of most French guys in our league with a visor on, running around and playing tough and not backing anything up."
But even before that, Laperriere and Avery were among the NHL teammates considered the least likely to carpool to practice. The fight against Avery was Laperriere's eighth of the season, and the possibility of a rematch was eliminated when Avery drew a game misconduct for not tying down his jersey.

Avery was well know for teasing Dustin Brown because of his lisp

Lombardi references this in the video above (start watching at :55)

Remember when Scott Thorton broke his wrist?
http://www.hockeyfights.com/forums/f15/how-scott-thornton-hurt-his-hand-68732/

What is printed from the LA times was what the Kings media told the LA Times happened
What really happened was that Scott Thornton beat the crap out of Avery for brutally teasing Brown for his lisp

It's referenced in the comments of this article

How do I know all of this? I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night
