How much is this kid worth?

After seeing Edmonton trade 2 former 1st overall picks for Adam Larsson, Zach Pochiro, and a conditional 3rd round pick you gotta wonder if they'd be screwed over trading away RNH..

Nothing. Zip. Leave RNH alone. Edmonton isn't trading him.

Offensively gifted, young, right hand shot defenseman under team control for at least 4 years.

Gonna go ahead and assume RNH isn't getting traded.

This thread is at least a year too early as there is no way RNH gets traded this year. The Oilers forward depth isn't as deep am many think

Great start to a thread

Nuge was always going to be the 1OA who stuck around. 50-60 defensively responsible two way center

I'd love him on the Avs for his chemistry with MacKinnon.

A package around Soderberg and Barrie (provided Zads and Bigras pan out this year).

1) Not for trade

2) Yak played his value down to almost nothing. Nuge hasn't done that. You can't use the Yak trade to gauge Nuge's value.

3) Hall we got burnt on, because every GM in the league knew they had us by the short and curlies. On top of that, there is far fewer of what we needed (top pair RHD) than what we had (scoring winger).

4) Nobody is going to offer what we need right now (a #1 defenseman), so there is no need for us to consider moving Nuge. It would be a hockey deal, not a culture change deal like the 2 others mentioned.

5) We have too many defensemen as is. It would need to be a totally unrealistic deal, like Nuge and Fayne for a teams top RW and 3rd line C. Unrealistic to expect a team to have that available.

Nuge isn't for sale. Management and the coaching staff are very high on him.

Yakupov didn't fit in with our culture and wanted out. Besides, he was beat out cleanly by at least 4 other players. Addition by subtraction.

Hall was a trade that filled a need. Larsson and Klefbom looked very good together in the preseason, Larsson will also have a huge impact on Klefbom's game allowing him to develop into his #1 potential. Excellent term and filled a huge need, it was a good trade in my view.

IMO RNH looked better in the World Cup than he ever has in Edmonton. Why is that is the question. 222 points in 313 NHL games Has pushed him down to 2C status even without McDavid. His average of 58 ppg should be more with the talent he has played with. At this point His value will be as a 2C because he will not be able to prove he is that 1C behind McDavid.

So his Value signed for 6 more years at 6 mil. He could get a nice Center prospect + 1st round pic and a smaller piece. At the trade deadline slightly higher. Now the bajillion Oiler fans will not agree but thats his fair value. Last year he could have been part of a deal that would have landed Seth Jones but the oil were not willing to add. And no RNH is not as valuable as Johanson if Johanson can keep his head on straight.

Right now RNH is not gonna be traded but the fans sure love to dream of trades in Edmonton.

Hell of a change from a few months ago when most oil fans were down with something around spurgeon or dumba+. I'm assuming the hall trade is the biggest reason, not the world cup

It was not Oiler fans saying that... those were rumours from the media about RNH for Dumba. I think HF Oil freaked out collectively over the prospect of that deal

Really? Most of us were ready to vomit at the thought of a Dumba+ swap for RNH.

As to the OP, we're not trading him and aren't actively trying to ship out a forward. So yes I do think he would get better value because it would be the other team approaching us for the trade, not the other way around.

RNH played in the World Cup exactly how he plays for the Oilers. If you watched them, you would see that.

Just because you say he's worth something, that doesn't make it so. Either way, he isn't getting traded right now.

I remember it differently. We were vehemently opposed to Nuge for Dumba as I recall.

No to trading RNH. I expect him to have a 55 point year as well as sound defensive play.

I wasn't aware an Oiler fan made this thread. Good to see you're an Oiler expert. How many Oiler games have you watched in the past 6 years to give your opinion on how RNH plays in Edmonton. My guess is less than 20.
