Lots of youth; not a lot of veteran experience. He and Sanheim are it.

And Nick Seeler, and Erik Johnson. (Also, Louie Belpedio is just as old as Sanheim, down in Lehigh Valley, so if we're desperate for people who can't make a U25 team, we've got at least one more option) There's absolutely room for the Flyers to move at least one of the four (preferably two, but I know t.he limitations of the Flyers' idea of a "rebuild") while still having plenty of Veteran Presence available to them. Hopefully they're not looking at Risto being desperately important just because he's a veteran, there are plenty of those out there, and we could take back a lesser vet in a trade anyway.

I feel as though this is the kind of trade Edmonton is going to commit to soon. I don't think Risto is the piece they need on the right side and they can't afford to get him at his full salary.

So as the wrong guy for too much $$$ it seems like the inevitable move Bowman is going to make,

What would be fair value?
1st round pick that you do not have... plus a prospect and no.. no 50% off his salary.

Almost no one thinks a 1st rounder is a reasonable price to pay. Plus a prospect? Shooting for the moon, hey? Well, that's your prerogative. :)
top in SB, top 40 in hits on pace to score over 20- 25pts, plays 20min.. why they hell would we trade him unless we get good return.. EDM got nothing.

Risto at 0% retention= free
Risto at 50% retention will require a 2nd plus a bit figure at least, just cause you are compensating the cap hit not the player, and when that happens the price goes up.

I dunno.

This is Risto’s advanced stats today. And it’s not just today, it’s been most of this season.

Him being a former Buffalo player should be the main part of his value.
All the former Sabres players who become really good and won the cup after leaving Buffalo…Eichel, Reinhart, Montour, Mittelstadt…

So, any contender looking for the last puzzle piece should take a 2nd look at a possible Risto trade.

Mitts hasn't won a cup. Okposo has.

Fellow former Saber Jake McCabe went for a conditional 1st also with two years left on his deal. If Philly hold the full 50% I have no doubt they could get a 1st.
