I feel as though this is the kind of trade Edmonton is going to commit to soon. I don't think Risto is the piece they need on the right side and they can't afford to get him at his full salary.

So as the wrong guy for too much $$$ it seems like the inevitable move Bowman is going to make,

What would be fair value?

Nurse and Risto would be like putting all your EA sports stats into skill and size, and zero into brains.

Nurse is having a great year, actually. I am one of his biggest critics but fair is fair.

What would the Oilers have to trade to get Ristolainen at 50%?

He has 6 points and a -1, lol. I wouldn't take him at free for 50%, never mind give up assets for him.

Ok. The OP isn’t asking whether YOU would take him or not.

If you are expecting Makar production from him then you’re looking at the wrong d-man.

He’s been extremely solid this year. He’s not going to put up points; that’s not his value.

Risto is having a really good season so far. However, I don't think it would cost to much to get him unless there are teams lining up for his services.

I'd say St. Louis 2nd, and Jayden Grubbe or Derek Ryan. I don't know how high they are on Grubbe, but the Flyers need centers.

Seems steep for a guy who has been seen as having negative value for basically forever.

This guy has positive value for the first time in about 5 seasons, wouldn't touch him for future considerations.

I don’t see the Flyers retaining 2.5M for 3 years without being properly compensated.

That is exactly the point of the thread. What is fair compensation? A trade can't happen without retention on the Flyers end.

our top pairing is Ekholm-Bouchard. All we'd need Nurse-Ristolainen to do is not wet themselves.

Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - Ristolainen
Kulack - Emberson

Is an improvement over the current set up I guess. It is what I expect Bowman to do.

Derek Ryan is expendable as Noah Philp looks poised to take on his duties without much disruption.

I have time for Risto. But let's be real, there's alot of risk with this player with his cap hit and term and history of shitty play. I heard last year Torts has been doing good work with him, redefining his game. His size and handedness is enticing. He USED to have offence though, for the Oilers 2nd pair I'd expect some offensive ability. If all he is, is a mediocre shut down defenceman these days, I'd pass.
