The man did the impossible - He got Billy Bulger and Jeremy Jacobs into a room and said in effect unless you want to go to confession and then say 1,000,000 Hail Marys get the new arena built.

There is a perception that Jacobs is Jewish but while his father was he was raised as a Catholic by his mother. Monan was able to have both Bulger and Jacobs leave their egos outside before they entered the room to get the deal done.

If the new Garden didn't happen Jacobs was going to move the team. Jacobs was willing to use his own money to build the new Garden but the state owned the land that both the old Garden and the new proposed Garden would be located. After 20 years and a previous threat to move the team to New Hampshire he was fed up. Billy Bulger finally blinked and then Jacobs made concessions as well and finally we had a new Garden.

Thank you Father Monan for saving our team. :handclap:

I like the flair your write with. I enjoy many of your posts. The million Hail Marys was a nice touch, and probably still a good idea for Mr. Jacobs anyway. I digress...

Had no idea J.J. was Catholic. Learn something new every day.

Amazing that anyone could get even one of those men to come to reason - nevermind both. Divine intervention through the hands of Fr. Monan? Maybe.

Just for chucks... where was J.J. going to move our hockey team to? I know New Hampshire was in the picture, but was there someplace farther afield he was eyeballing?

Thank you Father Monan for saving our team. :handclap:

Yes... thanks again, Father. If you could, would you ask God to turn the heart of Jeremy Jacobs? Or, failing that; could you ask the Lord to call Mr. Jacobs into the office for a face-to-face?

Thank you.
