Please.

I grew up 5 blocks from the stadium. I live in Brooklyn now. First team to play in the borough since 1957. If you're not from there, you don't understand. (And if you are from Brooklyn and don't feel at least a little pull towards the Nets, you would be the first Brooklyn sports fan I've encountered who doesn't.)

As for Melo, never mind the fact that I can't STAND selfish, hero-ball playing, whiny punks. Do all Knicks fans who now swoon over him forget what he did against your team when he was a rookie?

Nice. Sucker punch followed by olympic quality backpedaling.

Punk. Ass. Be-yotch.

6 Day training camp worries me, I keep thinking about the amount of injuries the NBA had last season because of it being shortened and short camp.

Back on topic - this is the one thing that really worries me as well.

IMO (or at least in my hopes) the interconference schedule will greatly benefit the Atlantic teams for this reason.

I'm actually hoping that the teams we wind up facing 5x are the NYI and NJD to absolutely minimize time on buses/planes and maximize nights spent at home for our players.

Curious, not try to antagonize, but generally curious. When the Islanders open up in Brooklyn, are you going to be an Islanders fan?

Then I don't think you know many Brooklyn sports fans.

Also, just because a team moves to Brooklyn will make me like them. Will you like the Islanders if they move to Brooklyn?

I absolutely hate basketball. I'm not going to going to jump on the Nets' smaller-than-anticipated bandwagon just because they moved into my borough.

Guess i'm the first Brooklyn sports fan you've met who doesn't have a pull for the Nets.

On topic, it's a godsend if we don't have to play Pitt 5x.

Was actually just in Brooklyn at a friends house Monday night. Had his entire extended family who all live in Brooklyn watching Knicks game. They are all die hard Knicks fans, who not only aren't pulled to Nets but angered and have a strong dislike for them.

Blog: Bruins to open season Jan. 19 against Rangers http://bo.st/UMSpoR #bruins

Not official, but it's almost fact at this point.

The NHL has informed the Bruins that they will open the season Jan. 19 at TD Garden against the New York Rangers, according to a team source. It will likely be a 7 p.m. start, although that time could change.

It’s possible the Bruins could begin the season with a multigame homestand. The Celtics will not play at home until Jan. 24. The Bruins were originally scheduled to play Toronto Jan. 21. That matchup could stay the same in the revised 48-game schedule.

Y u no home game!?!?

Just to wrap up the OT discussion above:

(Okay, first of all, if you hate basketball, you're immediately disqualified - I mean, c'mon now. :)) However, for the others of you, you're born & bred Brooklynites who've lived in Brooklyn most of your lives in Brooklyn and you feel no pride or grudging sense of pleasure in Brooklyn having its first professional team since 1957?

Then, yes - you guys are all the first I've met who feel that way. From all my friends who are Knicks fans, I have of course received no end of emails and Facebook comments to the effect of "Traitor!" and "Bandwagon jumper!" - but they all come with a "(but I have to admit I considered it)" or a "(but I understand why you did it)" or at the very least a "(but it is kind of cool to have a Brooklyn team)".

As to the Islanders - no, I won't become an Islanders fan. 1) Dolan hasn't ****ed with the Rangers for the last 15 years the way he ****ed with the Knick, 2) they will still be the NY Islanders, not the "Brooklyn [_______]s", and 3) I've hated the Islanders for about 30 years, whereas I never had strong feelings about the Nets before they came to Brooklyn.

Back on topic:

Sad to hear the opener won't be a home game, but it'll be a great matchup - potentially a preview of the ECF.

When the Garden renovations are finally complete do we think there is a chance the Rangers will once again open with a home game? Or are there other events (like the circus) that prevent it?

How ****ing badass is Hank? I love this guy too much...

As a matter of fact, Lundqvist was so amped up about the agreement in principle between the league and the Players’ Association that came together early Sunday morning, he wasted little time reaching out to teammates to organize workouts.

With union head Don Fehr and commissioner Gary Bettman meeting the media around 5 a.m. Sunday, Lundqvist sent a group text message at 6:49 a.m. to about 10 players who were in the New York area, telling them to get to the rink so they can work out.

Only Michael Del Zotto and Steve Eminger showed up to shoot on Lundqvist, but his legendary intensity has not subsided during the four-month hiatus.

“He’s really hungry,” Del Zotto said. “You could tell coming in.”

Only Eminger and Del Zotto showed? That's unfortunate for Henrik, considering 9 of 10 shots probably went sailing wide of the net.

This genuinely made me laugh out loud. Good to see DZ out even though he's not even officially signed yet.

Audio from the press conferences. I only talked to Steve Yzerman, there were two other GM's who came down to talk, but I couldn't get out of the Yzerman scrum. Some interesting stuff, even though he's not the Rangers GM. Sather, as you might expect, did not meet the media after the BOG meeting:

This is only accurate as far as the Rangers go. I WISH he had been that way about the Knicks (although my Brooklyn roots and intense dislike for Melo would have both still pushed me hard to make the switch even if he had been).

You cheer for Derron Williams though.... Will you hop the wagon again when he gets another coach fired? :sarcasm:
