That 1966 draft, all 4 players drafted by the Rangers played 300+ NHL games.

The trade was lopsided though I always enjoyed Carr’s skating abilities.
I wondered decades later if maybe he had vision problems that went undetected?

I had high hopes for Carr, his long hair and his skating were eye-catching.
but eventually, when playing driveway street hockey, we'd shoot wide on empty nets and say we were Carr

I remember Egers getting in a fight, once, and he had amazingly fast fists, but I don't think there was any power behind them.

I loved watching Carr, even though he couldn't score. In one game, he missed a wide-open net and color-man Bill Chadwick screamed Carr couldn't put the puck in the water from a dock.

I loved Chadwick’s play by play partner Jim Gordon.
It was reported that Gordon had an 3 minute egg timer which he used to remind himself to announce the score. This was the days before running graphics on the screen.

Stewart came and went, including his 1/2 season as NYR HC ... some cool names there in the trades

One thing to keep in mind with guys like Egers and Murphy is they were buried down in our lineup. The Rangers had Ratelle, Gilbert, Hadfield. Tkaczuk, Fairbairn, Balon/Carr. Stemkowski, MacGregor, Irvine and Rousseau was a power play specialist who shared point duties with Park on the first power play unit. Those three lines and Rousseau’s place on the team were pretty much set in stone and then there were other vets like Sather, Goyette and Stewart. Also back then it was 17 players and two goalies not 18 and two.

Egers had a couple good years with the Blues but that’s about it. Big slap shot. I do remember that.

Gordon and Chadwick were awful. Just watch old clips of them on YouTube. It’s cringeworthy. The radio team of Albert and Messina were excellent.

It was still the era of wildly curved sticks and guys like Egers, with hard shots but poor skaters, were always on the periphery, waiting for a chance. He did score some big goals for us.
Hadfield used a very curved stick and could really shoot.

Gene Carr. My most hated Ranger for much of my life. Maybe passed by Brashear. Thrilled when Carr got hurt. Bill Chadwick said it best. "Gene Carr couldn't put the puck in the ocean if he was standing at the end of the pier."

I will agree that Gordon was better than Chadwick. To me the radio team f Albert and Messina was top notch.

Gene Carr was a disappointment but I never had any animosity towards him. Generally I liked my first Rangers teams pretty much to the man.
