Former player and NHL analyst Greg Millen has passed away

I didn't always love his work... was a tad too negative for the job he had at times, but he did plenty of good work and by all accounts was a fine team mate.

RIP Greg
Ya he was definitely a hard ass towards the goalies when he called games, which came off as harsh sometimes but also kind of refreshing. Too often these guys spend far to much time blowing smoke up the players asses.

I was really happy Millen started doing more Flames games this season as I think he's one of the better colour guys for Sportsnet, called games the past couple weeks for us and now all of a sudden he has passed.

RIP, 67 is still too young.

That's a tough one. He been one of the more visible hockey personalities since the 80s either as a goalie or through broadcasting.

It's going to be feel strange following this league and not seeing or hearing him anymore.

Rest in peace Greg. He was a solid color commentator. What game did he last broadcast?

Thoughts to his family. He was basically my dad's age and probably in much better shape than him. Man, life comes at you fast.

Anyone know why Millen died so surprisingly? Was he living with cancer?

RIP, lots of memories listening to him as a colour commentator, especially during the Sens golden age.

Sadly we’re starting to enter the era where we’ll see fewer members of that generation. Stevie Y turns 60 next month.

In all likelihood, it was probably a private health battle that he kept under wraps. Not sure what it was, but my gut tells me that it was some kind of cardiovascular thing, because it often is that with former pro athletes. An athletic career that relies on quickness is quite tough on the heart, and if you have a genetic abnormality on top of that, it can cut your life short well before you should go.
