The Bruins never wanted to lose him but they had to expose him in the 1970 expansion draft and he became the first Vancouver Canuck.

Harry got him back a few years later trading Ace Bailey for him.

Were you at the Rangers Finals game in 72 when Bailey scored that epic goal

NEW YORK — The Bruins lost a cherished member of their family yesterday when former defenseman Gary Doak died at the age of 71 after battling cancer.

Doak was with the Bruins from early in the 1965-66 season through 1969-70 and again from late in 1972-73 through 1980-81. He won a Stanley Cup with the B’s in 1969-70.

His work away from the ice stayed with those who knew him well.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Gary and his family.

He was a pretty solid defenseman. RIP Gary!

I had the privilege of skating opposite the Bruins alumni four times for the MIT alumni team and Gary took part in all those games. A great Bruin and alumnus.
