I remember in his early years, saying, I won't go to another game as long as he's on the roster. But Doakie worked hard, became an outstanding defensive d-man. And, tough, too. Won me over, but it took time.

Well liked by his teammates and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Doakie.

He always had his teamates backs. No matter who the other guy was. I always respected that.

A real fan favorite. Talk about paying your dues. He really earned his keep with hard work.

Still makes me think of Fredo Corleone.

Do you remember when the crowd would chant 'we want Doak'

He was very good friends with Orr

I remember watching Bruins games with Dad as s child and he always called Gary , " Doak without a stick " because he was always losing his stick . Rest in Peace.

Shocker. Loved his style of play. Would do whatever it took to sacrifice for the team. Seemed to be hurt quite a bit as result of that. Tough as nails and a hell of a defensive defenseman. RIP
