Really shocking. He had a lot of talent. What a careless way to die.

Unimaginable that the guy who played the original Chekov outlived the actor that ended up replacing him in the movies.:shakehead He wasn't bad for being used sparingly, too - maybe a little over the top though.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the car that rolled into and killed Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin was a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a model that Fiat Chrysler recently recalled after its unconventional gear shifter led to several documented rollaway accidents.
The investigation into Yelchin’s death is ongoing and authorities have not determined the exact cause of the wreck, but this is almost certainly something they will be looking into.

RIP

Im going to add Rudderless to the list. An amazing, thought provoking movie I don't believe many have even heard of never mind actually seen. Do yourself a favour and watch this movie.

Don't believe in the 27 club. It's only because that's when people hit their stride so any death is notable.

I hope there's a tasteful tribute in "Star Trek Beyond."

It's coming out this summer isn't it? If that's the case I'm sure they've pretty much finished it...at most it'll have an "in memory" mention in the credits. It's the next film that will have to tackle the question of what happened to Chekov. Replace him with another actor or write out the character?

I think the best option is to write out the character and replace him with another one played by a different actor. Doesn't mean they have to kill off the character, just say he transferred to another ship (maybe as first officer) or left Starfleet for some other Federation posting.

Actually if they do it right they could really make it interesting with Decker.

Probably just a recast.

They didn't explain what happened to Heath Ledger when Jared Leto took the reins as Joker. :dunno:

Nor would they ever have to as they are from different movie universes.

A better example would have been Mark Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton as Bruce Banner.

Or Don Cheadle replacing Terrance Howard.

I just used Ledger because, like Yelchin, he actually passed away while identified as the character.

Even if Ledger was still alive, he wouldn't be cast as the Joker for the current DC movies.
