I absolutely DESPISE Twitter doctors who look at a 5 second long clip and spout an opinion. Super unethical to speculate on the health of someone who isn't a patient and they haven't examined, and usually they're no more accurate than just Googling "ankle injury" and seeing what pops up.

The fact that a "journalist" took Twitter hearsay from a doctor he's never spoken to as evidence and put it in a news article is borderline firing-worthy. It's not that much different than saying you met a guy on the bus who says that the Devils are going to trade for Connor McDavid and treating it like a legitimate rumor.

But I thought my source on the McDavid rumor was totally legit! :sarcasm:

The Meier needs to be the one driving the line stuff is so overblown. Since mid November at 5v5 the guy is 10th in shots/60, 1st by a wide margin in ixG/60, 1st by a wide margin in iCF/60, 2nd in iSCF/60, 14th in iHDCF/60. That is with the best xG% on the team at nearly 61% (18th in the league) and up nearly 2-1 in actual goals at 20-11.

Yeah obviously it f***ing sucks that the puck isn't going in for him but there's literally nothing more you could ask of the guy and he's not going to be any better than he has been if you put him on the 3rd line. I don't mind the idea to spread out talent and get 3 usable lines but the narrative people have made up about him is f***ing nonsense
I fully agree with you that was not my intent at all to say he’s useless when he’s not on his own line. He’s still really effective with Hischier (I’m not sold on the fit with Hughes tbh).

However, I think the Devils get far more utility out of this lineup with him and Hischier running their own line. He doesn’t need Hischier to be effective and Hischier doesn’t need him.

I’d rather see him take a guy like Mercer and elevate him on the third line rather than waste away some of his play driving skill with Hischier. Meier loves to have the puck, loves to drive the net, and loves to (sometimes annoyingly) throw it on net too much. With Hischier/Hughes, it sometimes kills plays but with Dowling, Haula, and Mercer, I’d rather that mentality.

After an okay first, they basically dominated the rest of the game. That shift in the 2nd where they hemmed the Bruins in the zone for 3 minutes was insane.

But Allen needed to be extra sharp when needed and he stepped up to the occasion. We should be fine riding him a few games

Good to see Mercer pot a couple. I was ready to ship him to Siberia. Maybe he can work with Meier. Thought Dowling had a particularly great game.

Was also good to see Luke and Pesce have a good game, since they have been pretty bad since the new year.

Great way to honor Jacques!

So apparently Swayman was pulled for injury.

I thought they were pulling him because they felt this game was lost and were simply gonna throw him right back out there the next night in an important game against Ottawa. But Michael DiPietro was listed as the dressed backup to Korpisalo and it's said that Swayman has an upper body injury.
