I think tonight marks Timo on the third line for a stretch.

I thought he looked very good right out of the gate. And while his numbers with Nico are good. Nico's numbers are good with everyone. If Timo can get a 3rd line going with Dowling and Mercer then that is maximizing Timo.

He was always supposed to be a play driver. I think it's time we see it.

If Markstrom is dead this is a won the battle, lost the war situation. I could see the team scratching into the playoffs without him, but I wouldn't expect anything more. Really hope he's ok.

You could send them out though. If you add a 2 guys then neither of those guys are in a healthy lineup. Like yeah sure the injury depth replacements are still rough but you'd be upgrading on Tatar/Bastian in the healthy lineup so you take that tradeoff if they need to go to bring in other guys.
I was talking cap. if they go they have to be replaced so does the team save any cap? Realistically I doubt there are better players that can be acquired right now that are signficantly less expensive and significantly better.

Meh. Maybe. He still played the 2nd most at 5 on 5 of any forward tonight. I dont think it would really be considered a true 3rd line.

I think this exactly. Both he and Mercer have been watching games waiting for that setup. That's Toffoli's game, not Meier's. He was infinitely more active tonight

Really it didn’t look that bad to me. I’ll be surprised if he misses serious time. Maybe the next game as you let Allen build on this one and get revenge on his last team, the Habs. At most you rest Marky to the 4 nations bullshit break that’s coming up I’m not sure when. But I’ll be shocked if he’s really out more than a game or two.

It's not about saving cap. It's about moving out cap to bring guys in. If the TDL was today we'd have 5.6 mil in space. I've seen people say by deadline day we'll have 7 mil accrued. You'd have 10 mil in space between that 7+3.15 that dumping Tatar/Bastian gives you.

Marky's injury looked bad but it's hard to tell how much of that was actually his leg rotating and how much was the pad rotating on his leg. It could definitely be a significant injury though. If any of you have some goats or something to sacrifice to the hockey gods, now is the time.

Dowling was exactly what Mercer/Timo needed. Just a different style than Nico. Take your third line ahl plug journeyman and step your own game up rather than just watching Nico/Jack dangle. Dominate the other team's third line.

Noesen Nico Bratt
Palat Hughes Rust*
Mercer Dowling/Haula Meier
Cotter Lazar Bastian
I mean, Dowling is exactly what Timo needs in the sense that Timo now plays like the play driver, and not the sidekick.

Right but if you have to bring in players to replace Bastian and Tatar you eat up most of that extra $3.15 or am I missing something? If you can get better players than Bastian and Tatar ok but is that realistic at their price points? They aren't healthy scratches. MacDermid could be sent down easily as could White if he is still the extra defender but with Haula out everyone else is playing.

His skate suggested it was the leg. But goalies are super flexy so hopefully it's just a tweak.
