Why the **** didn't ESPN make Forslund an offer he couldn't refuse?

Honestly, with the amount of money and production Seattle puts into their broadcasts, I wouldn't be remotely shocked if Forslund is making more money than ESPN is paying any of those guys. in fact, I rather expect that he does. Having a good commentator is really far more important for a local broadcast than a national one- the people your fanbase bonds with on TV define the franchise in a lot of ways more than the players do, and Seattle seems to get that.
