Rick Tocchet not returning to the Canucks

Toch taking ALOT if heat in Van.

People labeling him as a Quitter and Fraud.

He preached " fighting pressure with pressure" and "Growing through adversity" bla bla bla

then the moment a season doesnt go his way, he is out the door. So long Toch.

Hopefully for other team's sake, they dont hire this guy...he is all defensive, and will destroy the confidence of any offensive minded player trying to make plays. He did it with Pettersson, Hoglander, Kuzmenko etc. He does not like young players on the team unless he has to ice them due to injuries. Look at how much better the Utah young players are now compared to when they were straddled with Toch.

I do have to hand it to him tho, his system can work in the playoffs with the right type of lineup. Its like watching paint dry in the regular season though.
I dont blame him for walking away from the Canucks. The organization is a joke. Its a clown house over there, from the owners box to the dressing room. The incompetence of the owners and GMs( co GM??) to the in fighting and drama between their star players. No serious coach is going to want to sign on for that. We saw it happen in real time. Nothing was done until it was too late.

He was probably the best coach they had in the last decade or more. Last season was a fluke for them though.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Hughs is under contract for 2 more years. Hronek is better than Devon Teows and he's under contract for 6 more years. Then there's Marcus Petterson, who's on a decent contract and is a top 4 dman (I was skeptical but he backed it up on the ice) Then there's D.Petterson, who looks like a young Alex Edler on an ELC. And then there's Victor Mancini who played very well and looks like the main piece in the Miller trade.

Up front , Jake Debrusk broke his goal total this year with 28. On a bad year with no consistent linemates. He's signed for 5.5.

Petterson will rebound. And there's 14 million in cap space to replace Miller.

Even if the team is light up front , with this defense , they can play a rope a dope style and win games.

So no. Vancouver is not real bad and won't be real bad for a long time.
THey had these players this year, along with better players they traded away as well. They still sucks.

Hughes is likely leaving, next year may be his last full year in Vancouver.

Yeah because Ilya Mikeyev is better than Jake Debrusk. And bad teams like the Arizona Coyotes just win divisionals and contend for the conference because of a hot PDO.

If Mcdavid and draisitle can stay in Edmonton than anyone can stay anywhere.

Vancouver did exactly that. This season proved that.

exactly. I dont get what you are trying to say here though. The standings speaks for themselves, and the all star game is meaningless fan voted dreck, is this picture supposed to prove some kind of point?
You sound ignorant. Last season wasn’t a fluke. You don’t fluke your way to a division title. The team was unusually healthy for most of the season, though. Miller put up 100 points again (not a fluke). Pettersson was scoring at a 100-point pace until he got injured but continued to play through it. Hughes was healthy all season and won the Norris. Demko was healthy for the majority of the season and was nominated for the Vezina. Boeser was healthy all season and scored 40 goals. Some of you Oilers fans are absolutely obsessed with PDO. It’s hilarious. Tocchet publicly stated that he didn’t like his team spamming shots on goal unless it’s a legitimate scoring chance because it can lead to the puck quickly going back up the ice the other way. Quality over quantity.

Also, this season does not prove last season was a fluke. It’s more of a everything going right versus everything going wrong kind of situation.

Everything you mentioned proves the season was a fluke though. Everyone peaked at the same time, and now the team has imploded with their head coach and Miller gone. Demko may never get back to that level. Question marks surrounding Pettersson. Hughes may leave. Boeser may leave. That season was the textbook definition of a fluke. Everything went right for the Canucks, and now that it isn't, they've been exposed. It sucks but it is what it is.
