Rick Nash

Nash is like Joe Thornton. Tons of talent, no heart. Out here we were so happy he did not come to SJ as was rumored. I'm not a Rangers fan but thought their management was smarter. You guys gave up a lot to get him and for what? (And look how much better Columbus did without him). True, he could turn it around but I doubt it. He reminds me of Marcel Dionne. Great numbers across his whole career but nothing to show for it.

Bruins became contender after Thornton's losing mentality left the team. Blue Jackets also look better after Nash's presence is lost.

Nash needs to remember that he has other teammates on the ice. Far too often he tries to stickhandle through multiple defenders, or tries to carry the puck into the net instead of just shooting it when he gets a chance. How many times has he turned the puck over in this series?

If he's getting checked tighter, then he needs to use his teammates more, not less, as they should be more open.

Remember, this is all new to him. With the exception of the Olympics, he has played 10 years of "Nash against the other team". I hate to over-simplify it, but he has to learn how to be a team player because he has not played that game for 10 years.

It's not about "losing mentality." It's about Nash not scoring goals.

Are Ray Allen and KG losers because they couldn't carry the Sonics and T-Wolves to the Finals?

If Nash could score some ****ing goals all would be well. That's all there is to it.

He played a good game today. Still needs to be better, but he made a differemce this game. This is what I wanted from. Injured or not.

He needs to be more engaging in the offensive zone and shoot the frickin puck more. His floating act reminds me of zherdev at times.

I thought he played well tonight and we're gonna need him to finish his chances in game 7.

He looked better today...maybe the injury is healing? Hopefully he plays the same tomorow and pots 4 goals.

Nash is here to score goals. Getting scoring chances isnt something to write home about. His problems in his later years in CLB were that he wasnt converting the chances he created.

In 30 career best-on-best/playoff games, he's scored four goals -- FOUR!

He's a huge zero when the chips are down.

Are you telling me you can't tell he is hurting?

Pretty sure every regular is hurt to some extent at this point of the playoffs.

There can be a big difference between being banged up and being injured.

The legs feed the wolf. Nash is having trouble skating back to the bench at the end of shifts.

Nash looks injured.

In my opinion anyway.

Pretty sure we heard the same thing last year about Callahan. Pretty sure you were wrong then, too. Nash isn't hurt. He's just not playing well. If he weren't Rick Nash, you wouldn't be making excuses for him.

Unless his conditioning is atrocious and he is completely worn out, he is hurt.

He has no legs at all.

Who knows. Callahan looked hurt but wasn't. Gaborik looked hurt and was. Stepan looked healthy and was hurt.

I dont think this is as obvious of an excuse as you're making it out to be.

Hes a guy that thrives on making special plays with time and space. He hasnt had any of it this series, and hes been unable to adjust.

He has been playing hard along the boards and controlling the puck and using his reach and size all season. His speed is lacking from just a few weeks ago. Something is up.

Not sure why that automatically has to be an injury.

10 years of bad habits and meaningless games on Columbus isnt something thats going to change overnight.

If he was playing the way he was during the regular season I would agree. He has noticeably regressed in terms of speed and strength. Normally that means it's some sort of nagging injury, most likely to his core or lower body that is not allowing to push off.

You see occasional bursts from Nash...it's not like he can't get from Point A to Point B. It's total speculation to suggest he has some kind of debilitating injury that is causing him to play so poorly.

His intensity level has to pick up considerably.

If he was playing that way all year, I'd buy into the "he played this way in Columbus" thing, but that's not the case. He was this teams best forward all year, and he's certainly not mailing it in out there. If anything, he's working too hard to turn nothing into something every time he has the puck.

Where I will say the "Columbus effect" comes into play is overhandling the puck. He needs to learn that when he draws a double team, putting a move on the defenders is much harder than simply making a pass.

His shot looks "off" from what we've seen this year. I think he's a little banged up, but he also has to feel the weight of the world on his shoulders as well.

Nash does look slower out there and he is laboring it looks like. But in any case he needs to crash the net for his effectiveness to get a goal. His big frame makes it difficult for Holtby to do anything and I think the way we scored last night was in part because he was standing in front of Holtby
