We already have Clendening who leads the league in CF%. He was on the bench for 60 minutes against Edmonton the other night. Didnt get one shift, understand it if you can.... Arguably or second best defensemen and AV rather played with 11 forwards and 6 defensemen than 11 forwards and 7 defensemen on a back-back. Go figure....

Well we all know AV makes questionable choices in game, and isn't exactly a tactician himself. Been many of you calling for his firing for a long time.

Just remember that Babcock has chosen to go with Ben ****ing Smith on Matthews line (Instead of Nylander, and threw Willie with Matt Martin), He's obsessed with Matt Hunwick, he's ruining Gardiner by playing him only with Polak (even though his chemistry with Carrick has been exceptional), and refuses to play Corrado (Who was our best shot suppressor on a terrible team last year), and Seth Griffith (Who lead out team in SCF% when playing beside BEN ****ING SMITH).

Great coach, watching the games is 100% better with him compared to Carlyle and Wilson (even last year when we were awful), but his roster decisions might be the reason why we're losing games.

Ye i seriously dont get it. I like AV but every day that goes by i start to dislike him a little more. We got Clendening for free which imo is a very good player and he keeps getting scratched or just not getting any icetime when he leads the league in CF%, can move the puck and skate etc. Just ridicolous. I seriously dont get what they are thinking. And how someone around them in the coaching staff just dont say wtf are you doing playing Girardi over Clendening or wtf are you doing playing Hunwick over Carrick etc. Its just dumb as hell and nothing justifies playing Girardi over Clendening other than Girardi´s cap hit.

Yup, plus his irrational hate for McIlrath. Guy was above replacement-level Top-6 D. Still couldn't ever crack the lineup.

At least your management has seen the light and has gone with 4 skilled lines. It's really what the whole NHL needs.

i think the leafs would prever younger assets for jvr. nash is fine but he is not a longterm solution for the leafs. jvr is probably our best trade chip if they want to explore that option. i dont think they move him for a winger an expensive winger over 30 who is unlikely to resign.

Potentially a move to toronto could have a Jagr to Florida like affect on Nash, might give him a little boost playing with the young kids, and he'd want to stay

There is only one puck and not much of it to go around between Nylander and Matthews, Leafs need a playmaking winger to replace Hyman on that line, not a puck hog like Nash. Nash is the kind of guy you build a line around not a complimentary winger. To give up assets for a guy that isn't a good fit?

Mcilrath was just never gonna get a chance with AV. Was very solid with Yandle last season but AV didnt like him at all. To AV´s defense he is a player that we dont really need, still better than Girardi though. But personally i think Clendening and Klein is alot better and Holden is probably a little better aswell. Still think he never got a fair chance with AV to prove himself though!
I said it on the NYR subforum last night aswell that if we actually used our best players we would have a pretty solid d-core but instead we keep playing useless players like Girardi...

Mcdonagh-Holden
Staal-Clendening
Skjei-Klein

Mcilrath/Girardi as scratches. Holden isnt very good but he is a decent complimentary player who atleast isnt a huge anchor like Girardi is. If that group could play and we could get Shatty next summer and scratch Holden for Shatty next season our d-core would actually be strong. Skjei is looking great and Staal looked great with Clendening when they played together. Clendening basically made Staal play like Staal did years ago. They should be glued together because of Clendenings puckmoving skills and skating.

Yep the 4 skilled lines has been great and should really be a wake up call for AV on how he should manage this team. Was stubborn as hell trying to keep Glass in the lineup but finally he understood how stupid it was. If he can understand the same thing with our defensive group and scratch Girardi we are a step closer to winning a cup which im pretty confident will never happen with Girardi playing top 2 or top 4 minutes.

Think you read that wrong, Leafs would receive the pick.

And NYR would never do that. We dont need forwards at all. We struggle to give the ones we have enough icetime. Our three leading scorers(Grabner, Miller and Hayes) barely gets any PP time if anything at all.

Top pair right handed defensemen but you dont have that. I think they best option is a pick for Nash at the draft or in the summer but then again, Toronto is probably gonna pick top 5 or atleast top 10. Dont think you want to give up that pick? So next is a 2nd rounder?Thats not enough for me for Nash. Last thing we need are forwards. Have tons of them and struggle to give them all enough ice time when everyone are healthy

That Nikita Zaitsev guy is a pretty good Defenseman I hear.:sarcasm: Wouldn't be any chance he gets flipped for Nash though.

I wouldn't move Nash right now, the offense is pretty damn deep with him in there playing well.

Don't think Toronto has what the Rangers need either.

What would it take?

Could be a good veteran winger for Matthews, and contract only has 2 years left so wouldn't affect the next contracts of Matthews/Marner when their ELC's are up.

IMHO, I don't think this trade, or this kind of trade is going to happen. That would have been something that previous regimes would do, but not the current management group.

I think (or hope) that they will stay the course with the rebuild.

Huh? Isn't this just about the most valuable asset in the NHL? For Rick Nash??

I would put Nash on the 2nd line with Kadri. Regardless, not a great fit for the organization. Especially if we are giving up young assets or picks.

Rick nash can F/O he's a piece of ****.

He has a right to put all Canadian teams on his no trade list. I have a right to call him an *******.

As for the Rangers. How the hell do you guys continue to be a good team when you trade all your 1st rounders. It's hard to hate on the Rangers but damn you guys have something special going on.

Good at drafting in later rounds, good at trading, good at luring UFA's, and good player development.

Allegedly he doesn't have any Canadian teams on his list

Pretty certain that NMC to Canadian teams was confirmed at the draft. These threads never seem to work out.

I don't think anyone expected the Rangers to be remotely as good as they currently are and Nash has played very well so far. Add to that, for a guy who most people on HF said was washed up a few months back, I think Nash is proving people wrong.

If the Rangers falter I think he could be moved at the deadline but I just don't see it at this point.

JVR + Connor Carrick for Nash + 2017 1st?

JVR is 5 years younger and now has 14 pts compared to 11 for Nash.
dumb trade to make as the rangers 1st will likely be in the 24-30 range.

leafs would take nash if the cost is minimal. JVR + isnt that

Nash + Girardi for someone like Carrick and Bozak? Only way I'd move him is if someone takes on Girardi.

Or a quality RHD, which TML doesn't have atm.

Probably the most desirable team to play for, so they can get any free agent they want.
