Nash by a lot.

Both players failed to live up to their early career goal scoring promise. And Laine's was on another level, he made you think he was going to score 80 goals a year.

But after those early years Nash settled in as a prime two-way forward. He was terrific for Canada as well on the dominant checking line with Toews.

Laine didn't settle in as anything. He's still running super hot or cold and we have no idea game to game if he'll be the best player on the ice or the worst player on the ice.

Nash was a one man team for many years in CBJ. Laine has never been anything but a great finisher, he needs his linemates to do the heavy lifting. I like Patty, but there's something off between the ears that holds him back from achieving his full potential.

Nash’s career and numbers probably look at lot better if he played in any other era and for any other team

Yes, Nash won it even in in a three way tie. 5 goals back isn't close, literally or figuratively.
If you look at NHL.com Rick Nash was technically 3rd in goals back in 2003-04: NHL Stats
While Laine was 2nd in 2017-18: NHL Stats
It's just because NHL has a stupid rule that you can share the Rocket, that Nash has a Rocket in the first place.

I was gonna post something like "no one who saw both play would choose Laine" and then I saw the results and my priors were pleasantly confirmed.

This has to be one of the more lopsided results on here. 52-0? Usually a guy getting destroyed gets a pity vote or something.
