Right now it's Lewis but it will probably not last very long. We tried King, Clifford, and of course Penner. But I just don't see anyone this year to take that spot and keep it. So who would we target next year to fill that roll? Any UFAs come to mind? Toffoli?

Eventually, Toffoli or Pearson, but not this year, and maybe not even next year, though they will have their shot...

Personally, I think Gagne is the best fit. They are familiar, and he has the skill to still play with them. His speed is complimentary to Carter's, and he has the flair to make plays.

Other than him, I think Clifford is your next best bet. His energy is hard to pass up.

Lewis has played well, but I don't put a lot of stock in his play thus far. He has had lucky bounces, not to take anything away from him, but we have seen far too much of the old Lewis to be convinced on him in a couple of games. A few more will give us a better idea.

Lewis works hard and creates his own lucky bounces. Like you, I don't put much stock in it lasting long but he did roof a beauty goal and that should buy him a few games. With guys like MR and Carter all you have to do is the little things and Lewis does that.

Not sure if moving Richards to the LW is a good idea. We would lose our 1-2 punch on the center line.

Carts seem flexible.

I agree, next year Pearson or Tofolli will get a shot at the club. I'm liking Lewis's work ethics. I think he's doing fine with Carts and THe Canon. I kind of wish that he had a better shot but let's not wish upon that when eevrything is working at the moment.

I would love to see clifford in the role full time next year. He need to continue getting used to more mins as he I'm also love the rotation on it this year. Lewis while adding the energy that hes only a part time solution. I would love to see pearson for a few game this year after the trade deadline thou. Not more then 8 thou i dont want to burn the elc. Keep him cheap for another year. I dont however like we have 7 lws one of penner gagne king should be traded. We need a more skilled lw or vetern defenseman on a expiring contract

I may be showing some naivety, but I think Lewis' style of play is a perfect compliment to that of Richards and Carter. As long as the third line can hold its own (leaving Carter available to play on Richards' line) I hope to see this trio stick together. Lewis creates a tone of havoc as well as Richards (of course), so they're able to create a ton of turnovers. It seems like they always have the puck in the other team's zone when they're on the ice. Carter's size and finishing ability is just the perfect icing on the cake for those 2 little pests. Sure Lewis may be lacking in skill for a 2nd line LW (in a vacuum), but with the combination of skill and hockey IQ that Richards and Carter bring to the table, he doesn't need to be too skillful. Just effective.

I think Pearson will get a shot for that line on LW next year and there are some pretty good FA's available (Clarke MacArthur and Clowe off the top of my head) and there might be some contract buyouts.

As long as that line is producing w/Lewis, I don't see Sutter doing an immediate change but if someone becomes available and the price is right, DL might make a move.

I think it is Lewis's till they become stale.
Gagne has played there a couple of games and it looked good. THan he had a bad game and hasn't made it back up to that line.
I am a huge homer on Gagne, but the three of them has great chemistry for the flyers, and I do not understand why they wouldn't here.

I think Carter could play either wing without much trouble, so we have more flexibility than we realize moving forward. This year we're relying on the flavour if the week, which is fine provided the job gets done. I think Gagne or Penner should be there as default, but that's just me. I have no problem kicking them off for a younger guy with some jump, but they should get more prolonged chances to deliver to start with.

I agree with this with Gagne only because I do not feel he has got that prolonged chance. However Penner should stay on the 3rd. Maybe if he is playing well give him some PP time by putting his fatass infront of the net.

People often say gagne is useless if he's not scoring. Regardless of that point, now is the perfect time to try to integrate him back into the top 6, when everybody is collectively finding their game. That should help Gagne hit the ground running. As nice as it is that Lewis is chipping in for the moment, the upside of Gagne gelling with a productive Carter and Richards is far more beneficial.

Now is not the perfect time. Have you missed the past few games? Lewis is playing great in that role.

Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Gagne-Richards-Carter
Penner-Stoll-Lewis
Clifford-Fraser-Nolan

Simple. It should be Gagne or Penner.

What has Lewis ever shown to indicate that will remain constant? Each year he has a brief spell of production after which a lull occurs and he is replaced. Lewis, Clifford, King, its a revolving door right now of who's hot. I don't think Lewis can maintain it for all that long, so yeah, Gagne should definitely be looked at moving forward.

You said NOW is the time to put Gagne in there. I'm making the point that Lewis is producing right now.

I like rotating those guys. Give everyone a chance to play some offense do that the offensive mentality permeates to the 3rd and 4th lines without giving up size or grit.

When all four lines are clicking = Stanley Cup.

Who better to help toffoli adjust and get mentored from then the Richards line. Perfect line for him to be on. Can't go wrong.

These two create a lot of space and Lewis is a good skater. So, until he proves that he can't produce in the role, he should keep it.

I'm not sure what we need Gagne for right now...he's like a personal injury replacement for Justin Williams only.

I don't care if we never score more than three goals a game as long as we hold the other team to 1 or 0 goals.

...especially by game 3 or 4 in a 7 game series.
