What the hell? So they just brought up toffoli for the lulz? Poor Manchester

Does seem kind of stupid to bring him up to sit. I really do not get the infatuation with King. I think he's alright but not to the point that he should be blocking Toffoli. In fact I think anyone on the Kings fourth line is better than him.

But whatever, hopefully he'll get playing time soon.

They know what they are doing. I would not be suprised to see guys rotated out during the next few hectic weeks to keep players fresh. It's possible they want him involved with practices in case an injury does occur.

I follow the Kings closely so calling up Toffoli just doesn't make sense unless someone is hurt. You don't take out Lewis right now. Playing great! I originally thought Richards injury was a little more serious. Doesn't sound like it. So why would you call up Toffoli? Where there is smoke theirs fire. Keep in mind Sutter's and Iggy's relationship. From my knowledge they're pretty close still.

I agree. Trading Gagne for a pick when we needed some scoring, why not keep him until the deadline? We need cap space to fit a player like Iggy or someone else, just don't see this as a call up, something might be going down.

I know but it seems like they rushed the call.

No way we're going to trade for Iginla. Unless we're going to turn him into a top-caliber stay at home D-man the second we get him (insert sarcasm smiley).

This Toffoli thing is weird, but no way does it involve Iginla coming to the Kings IMO.

I also don't think DL is so desperate that he'd "trade his first-born" right now.

As other people have said, they probably want him to get some practices in before putting him into the lineup. I didn't think they would call him up without playing him, but this still makes sense. He'll be familiar with the players and tempo when he does step in for a game.

2nd born at most.

Flames aren't rebuilding so I don't see them picking up kids to be quite logical.

Edit: what if the scouts are here for one of our roster players and toffoli is up to quickly replace him? Wasn't there many scouts at the last game? Maybe it all wasn't for iginla

Isn't it more likely that this is a move to give a hard working, near NHLer a mid-season taste of the big leagues? Seems like the organization has done this in the past. And it represents the kind of thoroughness Lombardi is known for.

This IMO

He' has nothing left to prove in the AHL and it's could be more beneficial for him to work with the Kings, practice with and travel with them. If there is an injury or too many games in a short week, he's here, familiar and ready. Giving him limited experience with the team, will help if there is an injury and he's needed for the home stretch or playoffs.
Or maybe Brad Richardson is being packaged for a move and TT is going to be the extra forward.
DL could know more about MItchell's status and needs a D man.
I can't see Iggy ,we have enough firepower and the asking price for a rental might be too high.

With a roster spot open in LA this could simply be Toffoli getting a cup of coffee with the big club, and maybe a game or two this month. With I think 17 games in 30 days, or something like that, they may want to spell one or two guys.

Sutter mentioned getting Richardson back in the lineup soon as well.

QFT, except the part of TT being packaged. I think they want to develop him for the big club in the long run.

Perhaps because King is a big body who works hard all the time.

Perhaps you missed last season's playoffs, where he scored 4 goals in the Phoenix series. And maybe you missed him cruising around all the New Jersey defenders, moving on Brodeur like a freight train that he didn't even see Lewis on the other side of the goal to get the 3rd power play goal in the first period of the title game. Did you miss his pass to Kopitar for the game winner against Detroit?

Okay, I know I am giving a few examples here and I understand he is struggling a bit. But the guy is money, he will come around. Sutter loves the guy and he is going to stay...and he will be a factor once again this playoffs.

I didn't say TT was abeing packaged...I said Richardson

Okay, just read it wrong.

Going further: who would Richardson be packaged for? I am not sure what return we could get for him...other players would have to be involved.

Judging by the returns on Gagne, Lotikionov, and Hickey(I am sure DL tried to trade him)
I am guessing Richardson is worth a 5th or 6th.

Flames Fan here. Could Toffoli be up to showcase him if he plays? Would the Kings have interest in Iggy?

He's not up to showcase. You don't recall a guy just to show him off for other teams, unless you were way out of the playoff picture. You recall a guy because you think he can help you, plain and simple.

That said, yes, I think the Kings could be in on Iginla. The Kings likely don't want a long-term contract as they will be in tight for the cap next season, and the Flames likely want a long-term solution in net. Some sort of a Bernier for Iginla deal seems quite possible, at least worthy of being explored.

And before the masses rain down brimstone on me, I don't mean Bernier straight up for Iginla, but those two being involved in some sort of deal, with other assets involved.

Edit: what if the scouts are here for one of our roster players and toffoli is up to quickly replace him? Wasn't there many scouts at the last game? Maybe it all wasn't for iginla

The scouts never are there for just one player. They are there for both teams, scouting several players, and also filing game reports on strategy, whose getting what assignments, etc. for down the road when they play the Kings (or whoever they are scouting).

:nod::nod::nod:

Like Clifford or a fine wine, King will get better with time. He's young, has legs, and needs to be aged and mentored.

It's been pretty evident by his lack of playing time that he's days might be numbered. Better for him to go to a team an play. ANd depending on what DL needs or is offered, mabye you do add another player. But keeping him in the press box for most of the year isn't good for him.
ANd with TT called up...just might mean Richardson is going soon.

Jeez..given what Carolina gave up for Westgarth, the Kings should get something.

And on King. Lots of 2nd year players go thru a slump or sorts (The Nuge isn't exactly having a banner year) . As long as he resumes his post season form of last year, he's fine on that line. His size and strength are good assets
I really love Nolan and what he brings.

Man but lewis has amazed me, it's like he developed a shot this season, it's crazy but I don't think it's confidence. He must of worked is ass off with carter and learned some things.

Also, I really feel bad for Richardson, we should trade him.
