I am not the type to say he'd never clear but sometimes injuries happen and teams claim guys who'd normally clear. If not for injuries we'd never have gotten Paul Byron.
Why? Because we know much more about what he have ( or more importantly, what we don’t have) in RHP while Kidney, Farrell, etc. are still works in progress unless, of course, you have some magical crystal ball.
Isn't this Farrell's third season in Laval? It's not looking like he'll be an NHL player.
RHP is just another bland small player.. so many in a line of purgatory we have have been mired in fir 2 decades. No thank you.. this type of player should be max 1/team = we currently have it with Gally.
RHP is nothing and will pass through waivers which makes him not worth anything. Kidney and Farrell can still develop into NHLers. There may not be room on the Habs but they would have trade value.

No it's his 2nd but he only played 48 last season. So he has about 1 year of AHL experience now. And of course Houle was likely no help to him last season.

As I expected. The right call. No way is he going to be ready, and no way he plays over Laine. Hope he can get back to 100% for his sake.
We haven’t won a Cup in over 30 years with a plethora of players like RHP on our roster. Its time to swing for the fences in our personnel decisions. RHP is at best a single.

I agree there's no place for him in the lineup. Yet I don't like that players immediately lose roster spots due to injuries. I would give him a few games once he's ready. Then send him back down if ineffective. It's good organizational practice that leads to improved recruitment opportunities. We would not have Laine, nor even Monahan, without a good culture in place.
Well if you're short sighted and have no interest in ensuring assets grown in value, then I guess that's a reasonable position to take. Sadly, many people believe that development varies from player to player, rather than being a straight line that applies to everyone equally. You're obviously ahead of the curve in that regard.
Both Farrell and Kidney are barely AHL player. They will both end up in Europe in 2026. RHP is a fringe NHL player. He can still help Laval or play with us (if we have injury).
Well, RHP is three years older than Farrell and 5 years older than Kidney. In terms of hockey development and growth potential, that is a lifetime. While I may not have a magic crystal ball, I do have a calendar.
What your excuse for Farrel this year? 1 assit in 13 GP. 23 years old and 5ft9.... Where do you see him play with the Habs or in the AHL? We have multiple young forward coming up soon (Roy, Beck, Domidov, Hage, Mesar, 2025 draft)...
Yeah I wouldn’t throw him away but he is a tough fit right now. It seems like Dach’s slowly getting better otherwise, I’d actually try RHP with Suzuki and Slaf or have RHP swap out with Newhook.

Agreed. I don't think he's a top 6 option but filling the role Gallagher currently fills is a possibility. Also RHP is one of the only defensively responsible forwards we have and he's good on the PK.
Absolutely. I don’t think he’s necessarily a top 6 option but I’d rather keep the bottom 6 as is for now.
I don’t think it would kill Dach to sit a bit or Newhook. But it all depends what they’re doing at the end of the conditioning stint.
