I would assume one of Garland or Beauvillier would have to be moved/go the other way.Yeah, you'll have to send salary out first (probably with a sweetener still) or get some guy on a cheap contract and try to juggle the cap. I'm sure that's the hold-up, they're trying not to spend any more draft picks.
That's a 'low bar' for McWard to clear.......after Myers and Hronek, the only right s hot defenders in the Canucks system are Johansson, Woo and Juulsen.I would assume one of Garland or Beauvillier would have to be moved/go the other way.
Or more hopefully Myers and then you either use McWard or a waiver pickup for the third pairing (I say McWard as it's clear in the minds of the organization he passed everyone else on the depth chart).

Mayfield is a solid No.4 guy however Pesce is a legit top pairing, slightly more defensively minded No. 2 guy. Pesce is a few pegs up the ladder. Pesce could command 6 - 7 million a year depending on term. Mayfield...would easily be 2 million a year less, probably more.Am I completely off thinking Pesce is a tier or two above Mayfield?
Cost would probably be Kuzmenko which I doubt you guys would want to pay. Canes wouldn't trade him for futures, they'd just keep him for a run this year.brett pesce. longshot. but cheaper options dante fabbro, coglan, peeke.
Should’ve been done at the draft when draft pick values peak. I can only speculate but based on history I’m guessing that was an optimal time to try to trade for a RHD.You don’t address this now.
Trading more draft capital now is idiotic
Saw this same mindset unfold last year about this time
probably a bad idea to hold onto draft picks in an effort to min/max hypothetical asset value if it comes down to acquiring a solid RHD for the team. i wouldn't hesitate to deal off picks for peeke, for example. You don’t address this now.

After watching the preseason, I’m questioning where we replace the 5v5 offense if we dump someone like Garland. This team is not close to be mortgaging futures like we will be to do this
I figured this could use its own thread, considering how significant of a hole that this has turned out to be.
Quinn Hughes absolutely needs to find somebody to play with him on the right side, Mcward unfortunately is not ready quite yet.
I do believe they will shop that first round draft pick to fix the solution, I’m looking mostly at the Columbus blue jackets, especially if we could dump some cap in the process.
It’s not ideal, but just have a feeling.
What do you think they should do, who do you guys think they should target?

Also to add, They are looking.
yeah i think you're reading too much into it. another way of looking at it is taking advantage of teams with more depth than you, or swapping players who are talented but not working out in the system. You don’t do it now
You’re essentially just admitting you’re desperate when teams are finalizing rosters
This team has had the worst poker face for far too long

surely you understand the difference between improving the defense through a trade and a salary cap dumpYeah we really took advantage of Chicago which was a year ago today for that trade.
I’m just highlighting our touted “depth” up front isn’t that deep when we consider that PDG is on our second line, Hoglander is likely on our third or an extra, and Podkolzin just isn’t ready. Garland or Beau trade elevates someone like Joshua and suddenly we’re looking a little shallow. The team just isn’t fully there to be loading up *this* year buoyed with useless cap and roster anchors like Myers and Boeser. But management has made their bed and I guess we’ll see what they announce at 4pm todayWe've had 1 game where we played all of Pettersson/Miller/Hughes and we scored 5 goals.
I wouldn't be panicking about our ES offense based on games where we dress Suter-Studnicka-Aman-Sasson as our 4 Cs and no Hughes.

They said they liked stillman
LOL
He was one of the worst defenceman I have ever seen
Trading now is trading from a point of weakness which this organization had excelled at for a long damn time.
Just take advantage of waivers
