Every year there are a bunch of RFA's that don't get qualified, and usually there are a couple of surprising ones among that group Kubalik, Suter and come to mind as examples of that.

Which RFA's do you not see being qualified and who do you see as the most surprising one?

Skme are signed before QO or they are not given QO but still resign.

Not giving QO is to avoid arbitration.

Some ELC enders are not QOed

See? That's what I'm talking about Kurashev put up 54 points a year ago.

How did we get here?
Just had a really bad year this season. Wasn’t getting force fed the minutes he was getting during bedard’s rookie year.

Just didn’t take advantage of the available ice time this year even after adding Teuvo, Bertuzzi and mikheyev.

For the Pens:

D P.O Joseph (fairly likely not QOd)
LW/RW Raivis Ansons (likely not QOd)
RW/LW Emil Bemstrom (likely not QOd)

The rest PROBABLY get QOd but you just never know. Could be lots of turnover this summer.

I see Zac Jones getting qualified. I just have a hard time imagining he signs the offer. Unless Mike Sullivan is a Zac Jones stan, I think both sides are moving apart. I acknowledge that's not quite a direct answer to the OP.

Jones has above average hockey IQ and skating. He is able to dance along the blueline similar to Adam Fox. His weakness is strength. He needs 5-10 lbs or pure muscle more effectively pin players and win board battles. That or the muscle distribution is off. If he can stay in the league, he could be late bloomer -- Forsling lite. He's definitely not getting a fair shake with the Rangers.

I would have said Daniil Tarasov but he said they were negotiating his contract in a Russian interview.

I’d be surprised if Jordan Harris was qualified.

How did PO do last year?
It was a bit of a hot mess. To be fair, he leaves Pittsburgh, goes to play with his brother, is no better than a depth D-man there, then gets traded back to Pittsburgh. Mike Sullivan never really liked Joseph, so it was pretty pointless to bring him back.

I like him. I hope he finds a landing spot.

I assume Toronto will let go of Hirvonen who already signed in Finland? Feels like Niemela may join him. Disappointing outcome for 2nd and 3rd round picks in 2020 who had some buzz for a while. I know Hirovnen was hurt by injury issues, but it just seems neither had the physical constitution to really move up the ladder in North America.

I think Nielsen and Glover won't be qualified on the Canucks
Not sure about Hirose, but probably not. He was injured a lot though, so I coukd see him getting a year somewhere.
I think Woo also has a biger (relatively speaking) qualifying offer cause of his NHL salary on hid 2 way contract. They might give him another contract though - they don't have a ton of dudes signed at defense yet in the AHl assuming one or two guys graduate.

Chicago Blackhawks

C Jalen Luypen
C Antti Saarela (signed overseas)
Lw Philipp Kurashev
Rw Aku Raty (signed overseas)
I'd actually argue that going back and signing overseas will guarantee the Hawks will give a QO. There is literally no downside to qualifying them as the team maintains their rights until they are 27 and won't affect any roster limits.

:flames

The only guy I think to not receive a QO is Connor Murphy. Ignatjew wouldn't have either, but signing in Europe has made it so there is no downside in giving him a QO to maintain his rights.

Saarela is done. They loaned across the pond last year.

Raty just don’t see it. He was and add for Rockford and the playoff push. Most of their second round series he didn’t even play.

Not that any team ever reaches the 90 man roster limit but Chicago has lots of picks and prospects already.

With the cap rising, maybe we won’t see as many well known names but nobody’s been burnt yet really, so maybe it continues. Under 25 Dmen w arbitration rights, are the ones other teams need to keep an eye on. Surprises would be players like Malinski or Struble. Where they might cash in w arbitration.
