Offer sheets would work if you would have multiple firsts and seconds. Sadly we pick once in the top 60

The picks don't come from this year they would be next years picks and if you can get an impact player it can make sense.
We should just stick it Calgary
Offer Monohan 7.3x5 they match then offer gaudreau the same thing.
They probably still match but you eat 15 mill is there cap space.
An no one will ever be able to retaliate as benning would
Have already over payed our players.

I wish. Benning will overpay his scrubs and UFAs so badly there will be seen little room someone will poach our youngsters cheaply because Benning can't match and nobody will want the overpaid junk.
I imagine Anaheim matches any offer assuming it's reasonable for the team that is giving out the offer sheet (doubt any team is going to offer something absurd like 10 mil).
Vatanen is a much more logical target, but you might as well just try to trade for him with a package similar to the compensation price.
I would be surprised if there was even 1 offer sheet throughout the entire league despite the solid pool of RFAs.
I think the entire point would be making ANA overpay by matching which would allow Benning to pick up a lesser piece in a trade or subsequent offer sheet.
ie offer sheet Lindholm for 7.3M > ANA matches > offer sheet Vatanen > ANA cannot match due to internal cap
The Sharks did something similar with Hjammer/Niemi. Wonder if Benning could pull it off

One of Pat Quinn's *ALMOST* worst mistakes of his GM career....tried to lowball Ohlund & the Leafs gave him an offer sheet (back when NOBODY - to my knowledge - gave offer sheets).
Nathan MacKinnon 7 years 77 million. Doubt Colorado matches and unlikely the Canucks get a better player with the 4 1st rd picks they would give up.
