Heatley had some great peak years in Ottawa, but I feel like they would have been better off with Hossa as one of their franchise pillars all these years the same way Alfredsson was.

The only way you can call it an even trade is by completely ignoring two way game. Hossa is one of the best and Heatley flat out sucks. Ottawa got fleeced.

Hossa would've left guaranteed, the Sens came back down to mediocrity after that finals appearance and Melnyk wouldn't of paid him what he got from Detroit.

Apparently you didn't watch Hossa in Atlanta. He wasn't exactly known for his 2-way game. In fact, I don't think he truly embraced that level of play until he went to Detroit. I still wish he would have gotten rings in Pitt and Detroit along with Chicago lol.

Hossa was a fantastic two-way player in Ottawa.

You mean like when we went +18 on a team with an even goal differential?

yummy yummy hindsight.

Two quality players traded for eachother. Hossa probably would've left Ottawa considering he left both Pittsburgh and Detroit after they reached the Cup Finals.

It is possible Ottawa doesn't even make the Stanley Cup finals with Hossa, it is impossible to know. Swapping out Heatley for Hossa would have caused a huge ripple effect for better or for worse.

Because teams with Marian Hossa never make the Stanley Cup Finals

Truth be told he probably stays in Pittsburgh if they win. He wouldn't have a reason to leave, plus could take a payout to make another run. Unless after the cup his only motivation was to make a ****laod of money .
