This one is going to depend on what happens next imo. There isn’t a winner or loser at the moment. Mitts started hot and has struggled since. I haven’t watched enough of Byram to comment on his performance. The Avs desperately needed a 2C. While mitts hasn’t lived up to this recently, I’m not gonna say he’s trash after a poor 30 games.

This trade is still what it was day 1 imo. A trade out of a strong area for the Avs to address a perpetual spot of weakness since Kadri left.

If Mitts can continue to develop and find a way to consistently perform like how he did in the playoffs and during the start of the season then it’ll worked out wonderful for the Avs. Bo is great, but I just don’t think he would’ve developed into what he can on the Avs.

This. I was a huge fan of Byram and didn’t want him to be traded. Avs wouldn’t have won the SC w/o him after Girard went down. But the Avs couldn’t give Byram the opportunity to fully develop and excel as a 1D. And Byram deserves that opportunity. So, as much as I didn’t want Byram to be traded, it was the right move. Avs fans complaining about Mitts now are impatient. Yeah, Mitts has fallen off a bit. It’s a long season with a long way yet to go. We have seen what Mitts can do and it’s s clear he has the ability. I think talk by Avs fans of trading Mitts as premature.
