I truly don't expect the Penguins to do anything significant during the season, other than trading Pettersson at the deadline.

The offseason is a different story. I'm sure everyone will be skeptical of this statement, but I would be surprised if Mike Sullivan is the coach of this team next season if the Penguins end up one of the worst teams in the NHL this year. Even FSG won't accept that.
Why wait? Just fire him now..we suck with him so it doesn’t matter what we do without him…

I swear to god you post more about the Caps than HOG does about Sullivan or pixies does about Dubas.
I mean the Dubas stuff is stupid by a dumb ass bloke, the cap stuff is fine because they are tied to the Pens from the Sid vs Ovy years, both aging legends, one is doing better with transitioning their team.

Sullivan is the single biggest issue on this team. Kind of hard not to talk about it.

Sheer speculation, but I think for two reasons, none related to the on-ice product:
1. Respect. Midseason firings always have a different feel to them. You can massage the message around offseason changes.
2. If they fire Sullivan, Dubas will do it to inject an entirely new perspective behind the bench, and it'll be a full coaching search, which is tough to do midseason.

I think you underestimate the ignorance and stubbornness by Massholes.

Fire him now and run with an interim coach while you search/wait for your preferred target to become available. /shrug

Also because I'd like to see Mike Sullivan being sad.

This team has so many more issues than Sully.
This team has a ton of issues Sullivan has created. That's the simple truth. Trying to make it anyone else is just forcing a narrative to hate on someone just because you dislike that bloke more than Sully. Sullivan has been the single biggest issue for a long time. His idiotic usage of players has forced so many trades.

Well if anybody can bungle a lead in the 3rd it's our dude MAF.

Excited to see the Wild score real early in the period and seal the deal. Probably on some dogshit defensive lapse by Sid or something.

Reasons to do it:
1) may actually spark a turnaround in the season
2) they can promote someone already in the organization or who Dubas is familiar with as interim coach and still do full coaching search in the summer

Yeah but how many of those issues have been issues since 2019?
Does it matter now?

In 2019 the window was wide open.

Today? Closed like a miser's wallet.

That was what I meant. Fire or keep Sully. It is fairly meaningless until they genuinely start a rebuild.

A great coach might be the difference of missing the playoffs by two games or twenty. Who cares? They are out of the playoffs and have zero chance if they lucked in.

And they don't have young talent to develop. Not much anyways.

So, wake me up when they stop the charade and begin an actual rebuild.
