So we got Elkhom, Mcdavid, Kane, Fredrick, and sleepy head Skinner all RESTING. The big German got some zzz's too

Do ya know how our team changes when these energetic guys come back ??????

Don't worry, the cup is ours..

P.S. we might need a rookie in there, called O-Rod as well. Skinner needs a break, lots of breaks in fact....and I'm not sure on O-Rod yet either..

Goaltending is our only question mark

My soul needs to be rested for playoffs too. I might be a healthy scratch soon. Or a 4th liner. Its been a bumpy ride this season.

I anoint this the playoff optimism thread I guess.

Agreed that all the players coming back is huge.

I wish we had a returned to prominence Nuge.

I hope that Hyman

Nothing I can say here rhymes with Hyman...

I hope that Kane is Able

That we have ample horses in the stable.

Raise a Rickard for Pickard!

Or a Strongbow Dry for Drai!

Or a whine for Arvid!

My poetry thus sucks

Play taps for the Cucks.

Sounds good, nobody post in the "I’m naming your first born Leon" thread. That's for corporate types only.

Hahahahaha.....yes, a few questions marks. I just needed to injection some optimism for our Team...

Why you ask ???? Because a Team cannot win the cup with a bunch of dope head fans that are crying about how we got in the playoffs.

We need your support fans !!! Let's go bitches !!!!!

Can we pretty please waive Kapanen too ?
I couldn't figure out a way to putanen himanen in my poem.

Oh Kapanen the scoreless one.

Thy had company on the snide

With our bottomsix on a slide

But we couldn't let it ride.

Being only good on the pk means go away.

You may have Don Murdoch hair

But I'd leave you anywhere.

<The above to the tune of Bettie Davis eyes. > Sing it with me.

ps melody inspired by the love him or leave him post below.

I give proper citation. ;)

I agree. We have tons of issues but just look at how things are lining up.

We are a playoff focused team and things are aligning for us to our maximum when it matters

That assumes that the injuries are not too bad. The Ekholm one has me concerned.

If all of those guys come back without rust (Kane, without any games played so far this year) and are able to fit into the lineup without any hiccups (Frederic), and can come back at 100% (McDavid especially) and find consistency from previous seasons (Ekholm), and even play above their normal ability (Skinner), I anticipate that we will be just fine for a long playoff run. That's a lot of if's though. I'll hang on to my trepidation for now.

Playing the Kings first round might help with that. We are so familiar with that team that it might be a great opponent for players to shake off their rust

No one is claiming him if we waive him. We should be getting looks at both Savoie and Philp.
The only issue with those two, is they don't have a ton of NHL regular season play that really showed they belong, without throwing them into the deep end of a playoff run. I'm not sure if Kapanen is going to make any impact either, but he probably draws out if everyone gets healthy again for the playoffs.

C's above Kapanen - McDavid, Draisaitl, Henrique, Nuge (when playing C), Frederic (if he plays C instead of W), Janmark (not that he's been great, and is better on the wing, but he's still ahead of Kapanen)

W's above Kapanen - Hyman, Arvidsson, Podkolzin, Nuge (when playing W), J. Skinner (should be anyway), Perry, Brown, Janmark, Kane (if healthy enough to return), Frederic (if he plays W and not C), and probably even Max Jones.

We have 13 or 14 guys ahead of Kapanen on the depth chart. He would clear waivers, but we only need him if injuries occur anyway.

The Kings are better this year, and while Kuemper isn't a world beater, he's absolutely better than what LA has had in the pipes the last couple of years. I worry about the Kings more this year than in previous years. We can't take them lightly.

Every Kings series we had to face always involved their goalies being hot. We've taken them out all 3 times. I doubt the 4th time changes much if we are healthy. But who knows with Stuart and Pickard and Rodrigue is kind of a mystery box

We scored 22 goals against the Kings in 5 games last year, with one of those being a 1-0 game. I don't think we can say the goalies were hot when we scored 7, 6, 4, and 4 goals in the other games. The year prior, we only were goalied in one of the playoff games - we buried Korpisalo pretty badly. The year before, Quick stoned us on a couple of nights, but we still had an 8 goal game and a 6 goal game. I just don't think its accurate to suggest that the Kings' goalies were playing hot when we faced them. We buried their goalies pretty easily.

Will be interesting to see how the playoffs are called. Seems to me, one of the primary reasons the Oilers have beat the Kings tge last 3 years is because our PP was so much better than theirs.

There has been way less PP called this year. Also our PP is way less effective.

Combination of injuries, goaltending and PP will make this a tough playoffs for the Oilers to make traction in the playoffs.

The reason we beat the Kings is our best players normally ruin their best players in head to head matchups. Kopitar and Doughty have been wrecked each year they've played. Danault didn't fair much better.

If McDavid and Draisaitl are playing at their top end, the Kings will have to overcome that to win. The equalizer could be in net, but outside of that I think it's going to be a repeat of the previous 3 years.

You can never take an opponent lightly, but the one thing about these Oiler teams is that I know for sure is that if you give them enough games against a goalie they eventually figure him out, so I'm hoping they play Kuemper in both of the HTH coming up to start showing them the cracks.

The concern with LA will always be whether Skinner can keep them to 3 or less more often than not and can the bottom 6 keep from being minus a couple goals in any given game.

The real worry with the Kings is that this is an opponent that will not look past us. They want the cup, sure, but beating the Oilers is a huge focus for their players and fans. I still say the nature of that team is to play conservatively, which favors us, and favors players who have some rust who might be half a step slow.

It's definitely better than taking on St.Louis or Vegas

Reality is 3 good teams exist in Pacific and other than one outlier year its the same 3. Kings do seem somewhat improved this season. Improved goaltending. But the improvement due to Clarke hasn't been covered here. He gives them a different dimension in the back end and good at making plays. D overall are better this year for LA. They got Jeannot and Foegele and the latter is playing how the Oilers always wanted him to but has a bigger role with the Kings. Just watching a couple games Kuzmenko is slotting in so far and playing his best hockey in years.

Kings are physically bigger this year, have Doughty back (most people wrote them off playing 5mths without Doughty this season) and they've added other D and size. Generally they have more roster options to draw in than before. Still scoring by committee and still Kempe and Kopitar running the farm but Byfield has had a bounce back season.
