Klingberg's a tough one. Even if he continues to have a strong playoffs, I'm not sure how many teams are going to be tossing him top 4 money. His hips and health are just too big a question mark.
Imo his best spot is in a spot where he's the secondary piece behind a stud go-to option. Much like he has here with Bouchard: Dallas and Miro, Colorado and Makar, NYR and Fox, BOS and McAvoy, ect, would all be nice fits for him.
The Oil already have 7 defencemen signed, but dear god. having a talent like him behind Bouchard just completely changes the dynamic of this team's attack. Still I'm not sure the Oil have the cap space for him or Frederic (though I can at least see someone like Jeannot or Kostin as a replacement for him).
A lot depends on how much Bouch gets and if he's over or under 10 mil.
Whipping together a quick lineup with only Kostin at 1.25mil added to replace Frederic (focus on the caphit, not the name. Same story with Jones and Hamblin), they only have ~400k to play with on a 22 man roster. And that's before dealing with goaltending...
One piece of good news is Kane, Rico, and RV are all likely replaced by ELCs in Savoie, O'Reilly, and Berezkin so they'll have a decent bit of breathing space after next season.
