Lav seems pretty desperate lately, which is understandable since any morning he could come in and on his desk would be an empty box for his personal effects and a gift-wrapped Timex.

Am doubtful that the Rangers' recent woes are mostly Lav's fault -- the Rangers always struck me as having a strange build -- but when you're the coach it's your head that gets chopped off first.

When asked about Rempe's hit Laviolette "thought he let up a little bit" and made the excuse of how big he is.

Yes because being 6'9" makes you hit a guy clear in the numbers and line your forearm up with the base of his skull.

Heiskanen should be receiving a lot of Christmas presents from all the teams in the Metro Division…he baited Rempe into a trap to tempting to pass by…
Turning his back, skating to the boards and not being able to brace for an elbow to the neck…poor Rempe…he was playing a Selke worthy game and was lured in by this mean Euro softie.

There is a famous hockey movie wtih Paul Newman called Slapshot.
You should watch it…and thank me later.
I get the reference, I've seen the film "Slap Shot" many times... your initial comment said "slapshots". Slap Shot is also a fictional comedy film and has nothing to do with Matt Rempe acting like a sociopath everytime he touches the ice. The nonsense in that movie is the opposite of what should be happening in a real life professional sports league.

Sorry to be so cross, I get that it’s a comedy reference but I’ve got little patience for this guy running around trying to scramble actual hockey players’ brains, and even less patience for Laviolette and the Rangers for encouraging him to do so.

yup on the way to the box
I literally thought people were joking when they said he did that, lmao how absolutely insane.

I thought it was a board more than an elbow, I didn’t find the elbow very strong as far as elbows go but he hits him in the numbers and that gets him his cumulative suspension. This one wouldn’t have been very strong in terms of discipline if it was his first imo.

I do believe there’s gamesmanship that goes around playing this guy. Everyone knows he can’t control himself very well and it seems like a lot of people show their numbers awful quick when theres a chance they’ll get a call. Everyone knows the guy has a bulls eye on him with the refs.

The guy is going to run out of career really quick, they’re running him out of the league as fast as he’s running people. He isn’t athletic enough to control his hit or pull back enough when someone shows the numbers. I think he did pull back a bit on this but it obviously wasn’t enough. There’s not a place in the league anymore for this kind of player. I saw Rempe in the AHL one game about a month before he first got called up…I was surprised he didn’t get kicked out of that game. He was running guys like this all over the place and generally getting away with it. He’s probably confused by the difference in reffing.

Only 8. Damn.

This thread has extraordinarily good necro-potential as long as that clown plays.

If he disappears, most won't care too much, but if he is then found again there gonna be a decent chance Jimmy Hoffa will be re-discovered all the same.

The point still stands. Calling him a classless piece of dogshit is unwarranted and deranged.

The guy has played 22 NHL games. He's been tossed from 4 of them and then suspended for 12 games. He's played 22 games and been banned from playing in 16 games. That's because he's a dangerous player who has zero regard for the safety of anyone in the game. That, coupled with the fact that he's flat out not good, means that he shouldn't be playing here.

Yeah, I read Lav's comments in the news and did not find them to be particularly well-reflective upon himself.

Suspension was deserved considering the hit. Question for Rangers fans who watch him in the AHL: Does he play recklessly like this in the AHL? What is his role there? Does he have the skill to stick in the NHL if he stops making bonehead hits? I don't get to watch many games anymore and was wondering if someone could tell me.

In comparison:
Tom Wilson's 1st suspension came after 313 games in the League

Mr. Rempe's 23GP "career" rap sheet and Repeat Offender status w/2 suspensions and 4 game misconducts has earned himself FAFO status

Rempe is not even an NHL player, why are people so upset, it's good they ban the Raffi Torresses.
The only people upset are Rangers fans and they are always the loudest voices in the room when things don't go their way.

For the rest of us it's "Merry Xmas and enjoy the salty tears of Rangers fans!"

the NHL needs to remove these types of players from the league IMO. Rempe intentionally tries to injure players and he targets the head, just because your tall the other player is shorter it does not mean you can target the head.

this guy needs to go the way of Raffi Torres and quick!

8 games is an absolute joke.

it is blatantly obvious. Repeat offender, guy has no respect for the game.

Pretty indicative that the Rangers don’t seem to have any issue with how he plays. I would go as far as to say that they actually encourage it. I mean, this is the same team that made Chicken Wing Trouba their captain.

He has 27 points in 114 AHL games. His production in all levels of hockey would be unimpressive for a defensive minded NHL quality D-man.

He's not so much a capable professional hockey player as he is an unfortunate consequence of being able to dress 18 skaters in a league that doesn't take head trauma that seriously.
