Eh, im in my 30’s. Been watching hockey my whole life. The product has fallen off a cliff. The soft euros arent entertaining. The theo fleurys, sean averys, matt barnabys and matt rempes are.

We have come a full circle. In a thread about a cheapshot that will result in a suspension it's now soft Euros fault that Rempe isn't allowed to make his dirty hits?

What about all the 'soft' US and Canadian players , you didn't mention them so this must be nationality thing for you.

Tough , hard nosed hockey is great but it's not what happened here. Cheapshotting unsuspecting players in not real toughness. It's cowardice and/or idiotism.

I shouldn't be surprised, but I can't believe people are actually arguing this one or trying to let him have size as an excuse. He followed the opponent straight on the numbers and absolutely planted him from behind. The only issue here is Rempe's thought process
Thought process? That would involve rempe having an actual brain. Something i believe he is missing.

The size argument is one of the funniest arguments. How long has Rempe been bigger than everyone else? Because unless he just shot up in size a few months back, he's had time to recognize the size differential and adjust to not drive people's faces into the boards with a forearm from behind. Basically, bringing up his size is saying, "he's a giant who is too dumb to realize he's a giant." He's like an adult dog with his head under the couch thinking he's still a puppy and able to hide under there.

Are we really taking the angle that people tune in to see this guy? It's pretty embarrassing. Nobody outside of a loud minority has any interest in seeing him play.
He is hyped here in Rangersland. Certain fans who like big hits, fighting, and have a victim complex go for it.

You wonder. People say he's not like this in the AHL - he stays in the games - so he obviously knows what is & isn't acceptable.

The "dumb giant" or "golden retriever" is one of those dumb narratives that circulates around our fan base, perhaps with an assist from the organization. I don't know how many fans really think like that, but some do.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the team likes the Rempe enthusiasm and may use it to distract from other situations.

He's had enough time to correct the dirty hits. He's should get smashed on this suspension. If I was a player who got hurt with these cheap shots, I would sue the NHL for negligence on letting it continue. What if he causes serious injury ?

Never got the hype for this kid. He is a side show clown distracting what this team really needs to get out of their rut.

I’ve been so turned off by Rangers fans that they are throwing guys like Chris Kreider under the bus who is having a bad season (mostly everyone is) but is also playing hurt. A home grown Ranger breaking goal records for the club. It’s unreal.

Like @Machinehead said it’s the loud minority and it’s embarrassing to say the least

A lot of people aren't that interested in the team getting better, they just want vibes.

I got the hype and was rooting for him, but I root for the guy getting cheap shots more. Enough is enough. He is young so maybe a good long suspension and a very short leash, for this dude. A extremely Stern warning this time.
