How in the world did I get the 80s squares, but not the 90s squares?

Ok, I'll tell you: 1) Figured I'd use Daniel Tkaczuk again... nope! He played in '00-01, and 2) Michael Riesen............ played in '00-01!!!! :pullhair::pullhair::pullhair::pullhair::pullhair:

I DID IT AGAIN. Tomas Plihal, NOT Tuomas Pihlman for the Sharks!!

And oh yeah... Tim Schaller was not born in Germany, he in fact went to the NCAA :eyeroll:

That Havlat pick is also ugly... could have picked Scott Nichol instead...

I love this game today, haha! Like really? You fools thought I wasn't 100% ready for every combination of original 6 teams possible? They come up so often, how could I not be? I didn't even need Vic Lynn!

Ugh, the WPG/MIN square threw me off, I only came up with Mr. 4% Benn and Eric Belanger, and clearly I picked the wrong one!

Then my whiff came on Keith Ballard, who only had........... 175 points!

Ugh, goal scorer totals are hard!

Missed on John Van Boxmeer, who I knew scored lots of points for BUF, but he topped out at 18 goals it turns out (and 69 points!!), and on Aaron Broten, who I knew played for QUE, but didn't know it was for only 20 games (5 goals) - he topped 20 3 times, but all with NJ :speechles

Boooo, undrafted for CBJ is pretty hard... went for Matt Frattin, because I thought he was an undrafted college FA, but nope, 4th round pick! :pout:

Screenshot (717).png

Maddening.

I hate naming undrafted players... ugh.
It's not so bad if you're doing it for franchises that are old enough to have had players who started before the draft was invented (check my game for one such example :D)

So, I had a little fun this morning:

I've created 4 new community games, in which all 4 can be completed using only players that are top-100 for me in use and top 10% or higher in overall selections, plus no teams repeat between any of the 4 grids. If you know the players I tend to favour the most, you could actually achieve this (through more than just one option for all.... 36 squares :help:), but I'm not expecting anyone to do that, just have fun with it, if you want. Here are the links:

Game 1
Game 2
Game 3
Game 4

I'd be happy to share how I filled in these grids, but only once enough people have played it that stats / best game (:P) won't give it away.

Cheers!

That burst my Falloon...

Is there a single player that played for ANA or SJ before the 2004 Lockout who didn't play for another NHL team? lmao.

I guessed Milos Holan for career Duck, but he played eight games for Philly before joining ANA.

Goalies :speechles

Did pretty well, all things considered... I figured Howard would be lower % because there are so many active goalies that fit that square (Hellebucyk, Shesterkin, Sorokin, Saros, Vasilevsky, Oettinger, Gibson, Demko, Jarry...) and he isn't as accomplished as some of the historical examples (Billy Smith, Broda, Richter, Price, Durnan, Lundqvist, Dryden, Rask...), but no he scored higher % than a BUNCH of these guys! :shakehead

There are a few, but the only one between the two that I remember is Alexander Korolyuk, thanks to that funky trade with the Devils that established the precedent for trading for cap space :P But, it's easy to forget he only played for SJ because he was in such an infamous trade!
