there are three nondescript journeymen d that i always associate with each other. often in puckdoku i am reaching for one of them but can only think of one of the other two’s names and i’m like, no, the one who played for xx and yy.

they grant ledyard, bill houlder, and jamie heward. all played for a million teams, all bounced around expansion teams (super helpful when teams with shorter histories leave you with fewer options), each guy had a bit of a mid-career offensive blip, and they are very consistent zeroes in puckdoku).

houlder is like a poor man’s ledyard, and heward is the poor man’s houlder. their names even fit together nicely. in a way maybe they are all successively worse versions of garry galley.

anyway, all three showed up in the same quadrant today.

I wouldn't have changed my username if Marner's team had gotten eliminated a while ago and no one was talking about him.

But I don't want to give any of the (many) Leafs fans who can't stand him the idea that I'm cheering for him to win the Cup.

TBH, I won't exactly be outraged if he wins the Cup and Conn Smythe. However, it's time to put a current Leaf in my username.

What you came up with is better than the handle I'm using. Now I'll have to wait about a month to change my username.
