Remember this guy?

My favourite Kings player of all time. Hence my username is KingsHockey24. That 24 is not there because of Fraser lol.

I love you Frolov.. please comeback.

Ernie Banks.

All the great Cubs are without rings. Even to this date, and look at the Cubs the past few seasons...not even a hint of competitiveness, at least the Blues are contending.

The Cubs are finally headed in the right direction. Epstein did what Lombardi did when he came to the Kings - tear it down, draft real well, bring the kids up slowly. Did you see the performance Jake Arrieta had in Boston (whom they just swept, BTW)? You'll love these Cubs in another season or two.

Jesus, the NBA FA market is really heating up. LeBron James may not even go back to Miami next season.

And you guys are pining for selfish, lazy players who couldn't give a rip about the Kings or any success for hockey in Los Angeles.

Even if you don't care about basketball, and are bored crapless about the offseason, their has to be better things to discuss.

No matter. I will just get out of your way. Enjoy the discussion.

Basketball sucks and Labron is about as selfish as it gets.

This is a hockey forum in the off season. I was curious about frolov, I didn't come here to idol worship.

You know, for a team that's won the cup twice in 3 years There is still a lot of anger around here lol.

Yeah, I'm not understanding this at all. Bumping old threads, reminiscing about retreads.

Don't get it guys. Maybe you can explain it. We have a ****ing great team now, one for the ages, and you are bringing up lazy players and malcontents.

Just don't get it.

I don't create any, but I love them. As a long time Kings fan (and you may understand where I'm coming from Ron since you are one as well) I find it gives me a very smug feeling to reflect back on the dark days (and there are many). I feel smug because I'm a Kings fan since Gretzky came to LA and while there has been some good it was a lot of gloom for the better part of 24 years, yet here I am still standing by the team and seeing two cup wins in three years and arguably the best team in the league ready to hit the ice again in the fall.

Feels like I climbed Mount Everest  Looking at these threads, reflecting on everyone from Craig Johnson to Ziggy Palffy makes me feel really proud I never because a bandwagon fan and left to follow a Detroit or Pittsburgh or any other team that had success along the way.

We are all bandwagon fans, didn't you know? ;)

I think it was pretty clear injuries slowed him down quite a bit too. Several groin issues, taking a beating in the corners the ways he did, etc., on top of what others above have said. Was a real shame, as the guy seemed tailor made for Sutterhockey/possession, but I'm sure he's even more toast now. Still one of my favorite Kings ever, such a fun friendly guy too.

The problem was once he got the puck, he never did anything with it. How many times did he just dig into the corner and control the puck only to have his linemates stand around waiting , and waiting, and waiting to get it to them? Very few scoring chances ever came out of those situations.

Frolov was at one time probably my favorite player but I wouldn't enjoy watching him be a shadow of his former self. Groin injuries just decimated the guy. In his prime, when he was along the boards, he had the shiftyness of Williams and the size and strength of Kopitar. So much fun to watch.

As long as they hold onto the talent.

Might also have to do with those linemates not getting to where they could get the puck from him. Frolov finished 2nd in team scoring three straight years and top five for at least five straight years and put up some pretty good numbers on what was largely a one line team for most of his time in LA.

The 'lock' finger is getting itchy on a couple of threads at the moment. Nostalgia is great, but looking for resigning of players way past their primes and players that were dealt for reasons unknown is getting....shall I say....annoying.
The Kings just won their 2nd Cup in 3 years, enjoy it, soak it in. Training camp comes quick. Before we know it, October will be here.

I loved Fro. He was neither selfish or lazy. I hate that kind of stupid revisionist history.

Screw it, as long as we're running down memory lane, the one that I always remember is his chest pumping celebration at 1:41 of this classic:

The thing that annoyed me he signed for a low salary with the Rangers.

The Kings were able to give him that too, unless Fro didnt want to stay here anymore.

I don't blame him, the Kings didn't give him an offer until Kovalchuk signed with the Devils which was like almost a month into free agency. I'm sure that didn't make him feel good about being wanted back.

Well I dont blame him either. Its like you said, if that is all what it took, the Kings could have offered him this. Kovalchuk or no Kovalchuk.

A post from 2003:

Frolov: best player on our team for the next 15 years. Strong two-way player. Future Selke winner? 30-40 goal scorer, 80-90 points a year.

Had he achieved all that, we'd have a Hart winner.

It's fun to read old threads.

we could use a true no.1 center, sometimes I wish Carter didn't go right before Brown in the draft. Come the next draft, we should do all we can to get Rask

Scratch that itch.

If I replied to this the way I wanted to, I'd be banned.

Me too.

It isn't "stupid revisionist history" if its true.

I will say this: I liked Frolov when he was here and was sorry not to see it work out with the Kings, but you just can't change a person's personality and work ethic. DL saw that and showed the amount of interest one would expect in such an "asset."

And this.

Not sure why a thread about Frolov is making people angry. I'd rather talk about his wraparounds from here to judgement day with my fellow Kings fans than talk about the ****ing NBA, that's for sure. Anyway, Frolov was a good player and he would have fit in well in Sutter's system. That line with Handzus and Simmonds was a treat to watch. Puck possession down low like no tomorrow.

I think you are confusing anger with indifference.

If you want to see real anger, go no further than this:

Now, that is one angry man. :/
