Even in his last season with us, his numbers were still decent. Why did he leave again? Did we just not re-sign him?

that was the offseason we pursued kovalchuk. Lombardi saw it as one or the other, kovalchuk or him, but kovy decided to take his time on where to go. All the while, Frolov felt unappreciated for being seen as second fiddle.

plus frolov felt TM was misusing him, bringing down his stats after his 70 point high. But obviously his time with the rangers didn't prove us wrong.

i can look up news stories to back up most of this stuff if you want me to find it.

I think it was pretty clear injuries slowed him down quite a bit too. Several groin issues, taking a beating in the corners the ways he did, etc., on top of what others above have said. Was a real shame, as the guy seemed tailor made for Sutterhockey/possession, but I'm sure he's even more toast now. Still one of my favorite Kings ever, such a fun friendly guy too.

Funny thing is, his 51 points in his last season with us would have been good for 2nd behind Kopi this year

Going to the Torts Rangers was the final nail in the coffin.

Really? Do you guys really want to party like it's 2003?

When push came to shove, Frolov only cared about himself and the money he was earning. He had loads of talent, but zilch in terms of the heart needed to win consistently.

In my experience in talking to him, he always said the right things and would often do them...for a week, maybe two. Occasionally for a month. But rarely beyond that.

There's a reason his value dropped, and it's not because of Kovalchuk. If that was the case, he'd still be playing in the NHL.

The guy even washed out of the KHL, if I recall correctly. He has no one to blame but himself for his lack of success in professional hockey.

Yeah, I'm not understanding this at all. Bumping old threads, reminiscing about retreads.

Don't get it guys. Maybe you can explain it. We have a ****ing great team now, one for the ages, and you are bringing up lazy players and malcontents.

Just don't get it.

Honestly I wish some of the former Kings could have shared in the success the current team is having. Many of the Kings that suffered through those rough years deserved a better fate. Palffy is one that comes to mind.

It was inspired by a "Where are they now?" conversation.

Come on, man. Why does it bother you? It's the offseason, there's not a whole lot to talk about. And, it's interesting on its own to consider how the team has gotten to where it is now.

Jesus, the NBA FA market is really heating up. LeBron James may not even go back to Miami next season.

And you guys are pining for selfish, lazy players who couldn't give a rip about the Kings or any success for hockey in Los Angeles.

Even if you don't care about basketball, and are bored crapless about the offseason, their has to be better things to discuss.

No matter. I will just get out of your way. Enjoy the discussion.

Ernie Banks.

All the great Cubs are without rings. Even to this date, and look at the Cubs the past few seasons...not even a hint of competitiveness, at least the Blues are contending.

I've said this before, but if the Kings of today had the 27-year old Zigmund Palffy from 1997 then this team would be on an entirely different level of perennial contender.

You could obviously make the case for other past Kings, but he's obviously the most recent and a name you brought up.
