It doesn't even count against the cap when he's in Laval. It's a no-risk contract. Not sure why you have a problem with it.
I just don't like the player, and thought it was an unnecessary contract. It's not a problem but I see it as a blunder.

Once the rebuild is done, let's say three years from now - where do players like Pitlick and especially RHP fit in? Are they both stopgap players that fill rolls between the deadwood era and the contending era? Are they inbetweeners or do either have enough to be "more"?

Pitlick won't be here.

RHP could have a future as a rotational piece on the 4th line.

I think RHP could carve out a spot on the 4th line and Pitlick will be long gone.
