Not specifically related to your response, and not trying to imply any politics as I don't know enough about Kazakhstan anyways but...

With the ongoing situation in Russia, do you think Team Kazakhstan has considered "incorporating" Russian national team coaches to help their own program while Russia is not able to compete? I don't think they could do that for Russian players but maybe coaches?
They would not be able to travel to Europe.

There is no such thing as a hypothetical Russian coach-saviour. Top KHL team is coached by an oligarch owning the team lol. You yourself could coach Russia U20 to top4 finish with the talent they produce.

I understand your well intentioned question, but currently Kazakhstan just needs grow the game at grassroots level which is already happening at a pace not rivaled by any country besides Belarus and even they have now plateau-ed. Until 2003 there were like 4-5 arenas in a country of roughly 20M people. - what results can be expected when only couple hundred kids pick up hockey every year and you need 25 to ice a national team? The results will inevitably come, but it is not a quick process.

I'm surprised that people (well at least some) hate the hooking call that much, I can see being eh about it but it seemed like a rulebook hook to me. Refs probably more inclined to call it because Kazakhstan would've gotten a scoring chance out of it. Though if it was actually called holding that's weird.

In any case it's not like one call is a total lock to turn a game around, that Kazakh forward still had to take another totally boneheaded boarding penalty for that. That's totally self-inflicted and of course something you basically never see from a veteran, but that's Junior for you. And Germany capitalising of course.

Germany definetly got lucky and tough break for Kazakhstan to outplay the on-paper favourites going in but lose because of penalties and PKing. One of the worst ways to lose for sure.
