The media was always brutal here. Even back when Canadian teams were winning Cups frequently. Sure it was technically easier to avoid back then, but more than anything, players have just become softer.

Honestly same, I love Canada but it'd be far more likely if I was a star athlete I'd have a 2nd home in Canada near my Parents/Family but between taxes and weather id rather pick:

Nevada/Texas/Florida etc. Low taxes better weather is a killer combo.
