Kemp likely will never play full time in the NHL so he's not a big loss. Regula replaces Hofenmeyer and we got Perreault too so we have improved Bakersfield pretty well in my opinion!

I am almost 100% certain that it's based on the percentage at the closing time (and date) of the waiver period that the order is calculated....BUT...I'll be damned if I can find out for sure. I did some google searching and couldn't come up with proof one way or another. Now it's really bugging me, lol.

NHL CBA says that the order of waiver priority is determined at the time in which waivers are requested. Also stipulates that a request for waivers must be in by 12:00pm EST at which point teams have 24 hours to respond to that request.

So if a player is placed on waivers at noon, games which happened that evening don’t have any impact on the order for waiver claim.

In the case of Fabbro, who was waived at noon EST on November 9th, the points percentage following the end of games on November 8th would be used to determine waiver priority.

So the Oilers had priority over Columbus but didn’t put in a claim.

Fabbro was waived on the 9th, claimed on the 10th. I was on my phone earlier, didn't bother to look it up.

At the time that Fabbro was waived (2pm on the 9th), Oilers had a .464 win % and Cbus was at .500.



But if Regula is tied to Bouchard, I don't know if we put this solely on Bowman or our pro scouts.

My mistake, when I looked it up the article was dated november 11th, didn't realize it was posted the day after the claim. Usually those are faster.

Sure, Fabbro is absolutely more of an NHL player, but it's moot anyway, even if they Oilers put a claim in on Fabbro (which I believe they did), they weren't going to get him.

There was always the option of finding a third team to be a cap broker in such a deal. It seems though our pro scouts and GM just weren't that interested, which is a major mistake in hindsight (7 points, +13 in 14 games on a poor Blue Jackets squad). Not going to find many better players than that at the deadline, and certainly not for less than what it would have cost in assets for only retention (since Fabbro was literally given away for free).

Anyways this isn't the thread for that, I am hopeful Regula shows something and if not he's still a good bet to be an upgrade over Dermott and Brown as the everyday #7.

Based on what I've heard about Regula, he might still have some upside. He was born in 2000 so he's definitely not old. Who knows? Might turn into a decent #6 NHL regular. I don't mind this pick up and it's not a loss if he ends up not doing anything. It's risk less business.

Agreed but he is more of a proven commodity than Ragu. That’s the trade off I guess.

AGain, though, who does he take out? Stetcher has been playing well. Emberson has been improving by the game and if they want to retain his rights he needs to reach 50 games. Granted he's well on his way, but one injury leading to an extended time out of the lineup would put that at risk, so you'd think they want to hit that 50 as soon as possible. Obviously none of the other four come out.

That's the reason some find this move "odd".

Ultimately, I suspect he's just going to practice with the team until they finish this 4 game run vs. the better NHL teams and then they start trying to fit him into some games as it softens up a bit with only 2 games of the next 10 being against teams currently in a playoff spot.

I really don't understand what you're saying. Regula is probably better than Dermott, he's better than the depth in the AHL, so it improves the depth for free.

Stetcher and Emberson have played well, but hardly locked down their spots. The team is trying to get better, they making a bet on a cheap, RHD with size and with who might have some game.

Knob and Coffey probably want to give him some time in practice to get reps in.

This is my guess as well. I'm curious what Coffey can do with him. I hope the rumours about his puck moving ability are true, because that would really fit this team well.
